Controversy over MGR & Sivaji: Vikatan regrets

Following the resolution of 'The South Indian Cine Artistes' Association' (SICAA) that no filmy outfit would cooperate to the venture of 'Vikatan Talkies' (a production house of 'Ananda Vikatan) 'Siva Manasula Sakthi', the magazine has expressed its regrets over the publishing of the article by Jayamohan on MGR and Sivaji.

The meeting held on 09.3.2008 passed resolutions condemning writer Jayamohan's derogatory article against the legendary Tamil actors MGR and Sivaji Ganasan in his article in his website and 'Ananda Vikatan' the magazine.

The resolution demanded apologies from both the magazine and the writer. The resolution said that unless 'Ananda Vikatan' tenders an unconditional apology for the remarks, twenty four other associations affiliated to SICAA would not cooperate in the shooting of its film 'Siva Manasula Sakthi'.

Another resolution condemning the writer said that if the apology from him is not forthcoming, steps would be taken to remove him as the dialogue-writer from the two films 'Naan Kadavul' and 'Angaadi Theru' in which he is currently working.

Now 'Ananda Vikatan', which has a rich tradition in journalism and film production, has apologized for re-publishing the article in its latest issue, Jayamohan is yet to render his apology.
