Janaki receives Suseela award

Veteran playback singer S Janaki, who has won several National Awards, has been chosen to receive the first P. Suseela National Award.

The award was instituted by the P. Suseela Trust and would be presented to Janaki on the 13th of November.

According to music composer M. S. Viswanathan, 'Janaki is the right choice. She has dedicated herself for playback singing.'

Though a native of Andhra Pradesh, her Tamil diction is flawless, he said and added that she is a great human being.

Lyricist Vairamuthu, one of the members of the jury, expressed his admiration for Janaki, who has been singing for over six decades. The award is straight from Suseela's heart'.

On the occasion, Suseela, said, it is my attempt to pay back to the industry. On instituting the award, I am planning to start a huge music library, which will house rare collections'.
