It's known that Akhil's next is going to be with ace director Koratala Siva. The project was clinched only a couple of days back. The news came as a surprise because all the while it was Vamshi Paidipally who was in talks with Akhil. As we reported, the Koratala-Akhil duo zeroed in on a Malayalam film for remake. To be produced by DVV Danayya, the film might go on the floors sometime in September.
Reportedly, the Mollywood film to be remade is the Dulquer Salman-starer Kammatti Paadam. Directed by Rajeev Ravi, this film belongs to the genre of crime drama.
If this is true, then Akhil has made a clever move. Unlike mass entertainers or rom-com flicks, a crime drama allows space for a newcomer to experiment by coming out of regular mould. It also doesn't demand him of dancing in 2-3 duets or so.
It will be interesting to see a star director like Koratala, who has so far not dealt with his genre, helming this remake. In an industry where star directors hardly venture into this genre, Koratala has set an example for sure.
