MGM Channel to reach more homes

Another world leader in entertainment business has been seduced by the rapidly growing Indian television industry and the current cable television market comprising of around 70 million connections and taken steps to increase its reach and penetration.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc popularly known as MGM the world over has announced the launching of its movie channel called MGM Channel on Indian cable television.

Executive Vice President of MGM Networks, Mr. Bruce Tuchman announced the company's Indian entry at Mero-Golwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.

STAR DEN Media Services Pvt. Ltd. will be handling the carriage of MGM Channel.

STAR DEN is a joint venture of News Corp's STAR India and DEN Digital Entertainment Network which is one of India's leading cable companies.

The spreading of this channel will give more film lovers access to MGM's huge celebrated Hollywood movie library having around 4000 titles.

This collection is considered as the largest moden film library in the world and soon films such as 'Manhattan', 'Network', 'Carrie',' A Passage To India', 'Midnight Cowboy', ' The Pink Panther Strikes Again', 'Mystic Pizza', 'Desperately Seeking Susan' among others will be beamed.

Right now MGM Channel is available in India through Dish TV, the country's largest direct-to-home satellite platform.

In order to widen its viewer base, the movie channel wholly owned by MGM, have joined hands with STAR DEN.

In addition, the new association will result in the MGM Channel securing carriage on new DTH and IPTV platforms which are emerging across the country.
