'Paruthi Veeran' at Abu Dhabi film festival

An Indian film festival is slated to be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates from the 2nd of November. A host of Indian films including Ameer's 'Paruthi Veeran' would be screened. Hindi films such as Yash Chopra's cross-border love saga 'Veer Zaara' and Ashutosh Gowarikar's epic film 'Jodha Akbar' will also be screened.

The ten-day film festival is expected to highlight India's unique culture and tradition to Emirates nationals. "This film festival would most certainly cement ties between the two countries", said the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Talmiz Ahmad.

Other language films such as 'Daatu' (Kannada), 'Anuranan: The Resonance' (Bengali), 'Kayyooppu' and 'Gulmohar' (Malayalam) will also be screened.

Terming Indian cinema as the 'influential reflection of contemporary India' to the outside world, the ambassador added, 'the films chosen by us emerge from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, but explore themes that will resonate with discerning audiences anywhere in the world.'
