Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini's 1987 film 'Sitapur Ki Geeta' is being dubbed into Bhojpuri, following the trend of classic Hindi films finding new life in regional languages.
A few months back, Amitabh Bachchan's 'Namak Halal' was dubbed in Bhojpuri and released in the northern belt. Now it's time for Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini to see one of their films getting dubbed in Bhojpuri!
The film is SITAPUR KI GEETA that was released way back in 1987 and starred the lead pair along with usual suspects [most suited for a film set in a village that is under a constant fear of 'thakurs'] like Raza Murad, Amjad Khan, Tej Sapru, Shakti Kapoor, Jankidas and Pran. Directed by Shibu Mitra, who has to his credits films like 'Bindiya Aur Bandook', 'Insaaf Main Karoonga', 'Aag Hi Aag', 'Paap Ki Duniya' and most recently 'Kasam', 'Sitapur Ki Geeta' is a usual cop v/s bandit masala fare that worked in a big way during the 70s and the 80s.
