Salman Khan asks 'Sultan' makers to extend Randeep Hooda's screen time

Ever since they worked together in Kick (2014), Salman Khan and Randeep Hooda seem to share a great camaraderie both off and on screen. Last month, the latter had even confessed that he wouldn’t have taken up Ali Abbas Zafar’s Sultan had it not been for the star — Sallu had apparently recommended Randeep’s name to play his coach in the wrestling drama.

Now, we hear, Salman ensured that the Sarbjit actor, whose recent films haven’t really done well at the box office, gets enough screen space in Sultan.

A source says, “They became good friends after working in Kick. Randeep is spotted at all important functions of the Khan family. So, for Sultan, when the makers were looking for an actor to play a bit role as his coach, Salman suggested Randeep’s name. Recently, when he got to know that Randeep’s role has been trimmed in the post-production stage, he was quick to make necessary calls for it to be extended to a respectable point.”

Randeep had shot for his portions in and around Haryana and Delhi a few months ago. In between, he even took a break to go in for an appendicitis surgery. The source adds, “Even though he is doing a cameo, some of his portions were edited out so that the film doesn’t become unnecessarily long. But Salman asked the makers to retain most of his scenes and they have agreed to his proposal.”

The spokesperson of Yash Raj Films, which is producing the film, remained unavailable for comment.
