Actress Sneha will receive the inaugural Soundarya Award, established by the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy to honor the late actress. Sai Kumar, head of the award committee, praised Sneha's versatile acting.
The Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy have come together to constitute an award in the name of actress Soundarya, who died in a air mishap a couple of years ago. The first edition of the award will be presented to actress Sneha, who is busy acting in various South Indian languages.
The award committee is headed by Sai Kumar.
Announcing the award, Sai Kumar said, 'Soundarya was a talented actress whose acting prowess won her admiration all over the country. We chose to honor an actress for her contribution to film industry to be bestowed with an award being named after Soundarya'.
On choosing Sneha, Sai Kumar said, 'after Soundarya, it is Sneha who has won a name for herself playing versatile roles. In Telugu and Tamil film industry, she seems to have taken up the place left vacant by Soundarya. A right honor for the right actress'.
