Anurag Kashyap notes Tamil film producers' hesitation to submit films to festivals, fearing leaks and missing out on international recognition. He criticizes this attitude, which prioritizes theatrical release over festival exposure.
Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has pointed out that Tamil producers are reluctant to send their films to festivals and eventually miss the international accreditations. While talking to a leading English daily, he was quoted, "The production house is afraid that a film will get leaked if it is sent for fests. So, they go for the theatrical release first.
But the irony is that festivals won't take in films that have been released already." He further added, "The problem with Tamil cinema is not the films; it is the attitude."
