The 1980 Rajinikanth classic 'Murattukalai' is set for a modern remake starring Sundar C, scheduled for release in April 2009.
The evergreen hit Murattukalai starring Rajinikanth which was released in 1980 will be remade soon. The movie set a new trend in Tamil cinema then and propelled Rajinikanth to stardom. Produced by AVM, it was hailed as one of the best entertainers in Tamil cinema until now.
Buzz is that the movie would be remade in Tamil now by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's grand son and son of director Amirtham Gunanidhi.
Sundar C plays the lead role, while Suman dons the character enacted by Jai Shankar and Vivek plays the comedian's role done by Surulirajan.
The movie would be directed by Selvabharathy and would be released on 14 April, 2009.
