Why Walt Disney want to leave India?

Walt Disney is reportedly exiting its film production partnership with UTV Motion Pictures in India due to unviable ventures and significant financial losses from recent Bollywood releases.

Walt Disney needs no introduction. It has delivered many Hollywood blockbusters over the past few decades. In 2012, Walt Disney entered Indian Market and collaborated with UTV Motion Pictures to for UTV Disney. Films like Chennai Express, Fitoor, Haider, Kick, Saala Khadoos, Baaghi, Dishoom and Mohenjo Daro were jointly produced by these Production Houses.

If the buzz is to be believed, Walt Disney is planning to pull out of the partnership with UTV citing unviable partnership and huge loses incurred. Recent disasters (Fitoor, Dishoom and Mohenjo Daro) have brought the partnership to an end. Although Aamir Khan's Dangal and Ranbir-Katrina's Jagga Jassoos were still in the making, Walt Disney have no plans to renew the contract. It is going to focus only on Hollywood Films, TV Licensing and Merchandising.

Reportedly, Disney UTV MD Siddharth Roy Kapur (Vidya Balan's Husband) is gonna quit. Ronnie Screwvala, founder of UTV Motion Pictures, is keen to start a new production house titled 'RSVP'.
