Brussels terror alert: No bomb found

No explosives were found on a man arrested amid an anti-terror operation at a shopping centre in Brussels, the city's prosecutor's office says.

The man called police earlier in the morning and said he was wearing explosives, Belgian media report.
Streets around the City 2 shopping centre were closed off and a bomb disposal unit sent to the scene.

The suspect was wearing a fake suicide belt and is being questioned, the prosecutor's office said.

"For the moment, the situation is under control," Prime Minister Charles Michel said after a meeting the national crisis response centre, according to the Le Soir daily.

He said security services remained "extremely vigilant".

Pictures obtained by Le Soir appear to show the suspect wearing an improvised belt, including wires and a phone.
