The Fourth Chennai International Film Festival which drew huge crowds, ended on a positive note yesterday.
Filmmaker Shyam Benegal, who presided over the valedictory, was silently amused and pleasantly happy on noting that the festival drew an average of 2,000 viewers everyday. He even called Chennai the 'Film' Capital' of India as Chennai produced as many as 550 films per year. Further, the audience turnout and participation at the film festival proved that Chennai has a number of film enthusiasts who are keen on taking our films to international standards.
He also handed over the torch for the next film festival to artiste-director Revathy, and E Thangaraj, Secretary, ICAF, while S Ve Shekher, Vice-President, CIFF, looked on.
A total of 100 films from 40 different countries were screened in the festival which was held between December 15 and 22.
