Maniratnam's next project seems to be a romantic drama and the movie is officially titled as 'Kaatru Veliyidai'. As always, Maniratnam grabbed attention with the title of the movie itself. The movie is touted to be a Romantic drama that revolves around a pilot who falls in love with a girl during his trip to India.
The movie was initially planned to be a bilingual flick featuring Karthi, Dulquer Salman and Sai Pallavi. However, when the script was found to be similar to Bollywood film Badlapur, Maniratnam reworked the script and he changed the casting.
This resulted in delay of the project and Sai Pallavi walked out. Dulquer Salman too stepped out after some time. Aditi Rao Hydari is now doing female lead role and apart from the lead cast, RJ Balaji is also doing role of Karthi's friend in the movie.
AR Rahman is scoring music. The First look poster shows some Fighter jets, Snow mountains, Lead pair and then the director's name Mani Ratnam !
