'Very rarely do offbeat movies become box-office hits. Audience should welcome such movies for the betterment of the industry,' says Madhavan.
Speaking to press persons at a function held in Chennai on Wednesday, the actor said that it is unfortunate that action-packed movies have become big hits in the recent past. 'Movies with offbeat themes have become a rarity. Audience should welcome such attempts,' he said.
Happy at the success of Irandu, Madhavan says, 'When the director (Sundar C) narrated the story, I immediately decided to do it. I wanted to just go out and have a blast on the sets.'
On playing guest roles in movies including Rang De Basanti and Delhii Heights, the actor says, 'I don't mind doing minuscule roles. It is my desire to be part of movies which have different story line and an honest attempt to take films to a higher level.'
The actor is awaiting the release of Guru (directed by Manirathinam) in which he plays a scribe.
