Actors losing weight for films have become a common thing. The latest to join the list is Raghuvannan, son of actor - director Manivannan. For his forthcoming film titled Thodakkam, the young actor has shed over 30 kilograms.
Says Raghuvannan, 'After my debut in Maran, my father wanted me to take up direction. I watched a lot of foreign films and gained knowledge on filmmaking. At that juncture, director R Muthukumar approached me and insisted me to do the lead role. Initially I was hesitant, but the storyline impressed me to accept the offer'.
'I weighed over 108 kilograms when the shooting commenced. But took to rigorous exercises and domestic work and reduced my weight to 78 kilograms. The movie has romance, action and sentiments'.
Asked on the movie, he says, ' It is about a youth who hates his motherland. In contrast, it is his motherland that helps him come up in his life. Muthukumar has given enough twists and turns in the subject'.
Also plans are on to shoot a song featuring noted drummer Shivamani and playback singer Hariharan.
Muthukumar, says, 'A bunch of talented youngsters ken to establish them in the industry are coming together in the movie. The zeal to excel has propelled them to give their best on the screen. As a result the output has been amazing'.
