Talented and renowned singer Shankar Mahadevan was hospitalised yesterday, after he suffered two back-to-back heart attacks. He was rushed and admitted to the ICU in Delhi after he complained of severe chest pain. "It was mainly due to exhaustion. Dad underwent angioplasty on the first day itself when he was hospitalised. Thankfully, there weren’t any major blockages. He is recuperating well and the doctors said he would be discharged within a day or two," said his son Siddharth.
Singer Shankar took to Twitter and said; "My dearest friends and well wishers, I have no words to express my gratitude for the amount of love and prayers I’ve received in the past few days when I was going through a health problem. By God’s blessings, your positive energy and some excellent doctors, all the procedures were successful and I’m recovering very well. Waiting to come and rock with ya’ll soon! Lots of love and hugs, Shankar Mahadevan."
Shankar's upcoming performances in Rajkot and Mumbai were cancelled due to his health problem. The singer was last seen performing at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s daughter Sonali’s sangeet on Saturday night, after which he felt unwell.
