The election to the Tamil Film Producers Council is over and new office-bearers have taken charge and even had an audition with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Now it is time that they get into business.
They should address several issues affecting the survival of the industry at a rapid pace. First and foremost, several films have been lying in the cans due to financial constraints.
Secondly, the long pending demand of the producers to cut the soaring salary of the actors. The new team has stressed that efforts would be taken to address the issue.
Thirdly, the problem involved in obtaining No - Objection Certificates from Animal Welfare Board in case of using animals in their films. Over two dozen films are still awaiting clearance from the Animal Welfare Board which eventually delayed its release.
A section of producers hope that these issues would be addressed at the earliest by the team headed by Rama Narayanan.
