Vasantham, a free-to-air channel gets launched in Singapore on October 19, 2008. The Launch Show, titled "Pudhu Vasantham'' in English, will showcase the history of Indian broadcasting in Singapore and how it has evolved over the years. More than 100 local artistes spanning four decades will be performing during this musical launch show.
Vasantham is also the largest free-to-air broadcaster catering to the Indian community outside India.
The new Vasantham channel, which aspires to be the channel of choice for the growing Indian community in Singapore, will telecast programmes from 3P.M. to 12A.M. on Monday to Saturday and from 1P.M. to 12A.M.on Sunday. Besides serving as the main source of news and current affairs for the community, Vasantham will also be offering many entertainment and infotainment programmes on a daily basis.
The channel would carry the tagline 'Naalthorum Navarasam' that draws upon the ancient Indian concept of slotting the various hues of life into nine different categories -from comedy and romance to courage, wonder and tranquility.
