Vijayakanth will soon be directing a movie. The actor-turned politician had acted in over 150 films so far and his 151st film 'Engal Aasaan' is nearing completion. The actor has also given to nod to be part of a film titled 'Mariyadhai', which is to be directed by Vikraman.
Vijayakanth made his debut with 'Thoorathu Idi Muzhakkam' and his 100th film 'Captain Prabhakaran' went on to become a huge blockbuster.
Speaking at a public meeting in Erode, Vijayakanth said his maiden directorial venture will be titled 'Vridhagiri'.
He would play an honest cop in the movie who fights for the cause of the common man.
Sources close to Vijayakanth say, 'Vijayakanth started his political campaign in the last Assembly elections from Vridhagireeswarar temple at Vriddachalam. He went on to win the Assembly election from Vriddachalam. Therefore, he has named the film 'Vridhagiri.'
