Noted artiste of yesteryears G Varalakshmi passed away in Chennai on Sunday. She was 80.
Varalakshmi was suffering from some health problems for quite some time and was getting treated in a private hospital. She was relieved on Saturday and was again admitted to the hospital on Sunday after her condition turned critical. She breathed her last in the hospital and was laid to rest on Monday.
G. Varalakshmi, the second wife of KS Prakasa Rao, father of director K Raghavendra Rao, was staying with her daughter Kanakadurga at Chennai.
Born in 1927 at Ongole district (present Prakasam district), she entered Telugu films through 'Bhakta Prahlada' as a child artiste. Her films Kula Gotralu, Mangalya Bandham and Pelli Chesi Choodu earned her a good name. Her last film was 'Leta Manasulu.'
