Achu Rajamani often credited as Achu is an Indian film score and soundtrack composer and singer.[1] He has scored music for several Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. He made his full fledged music direction debut in the Telugu film Nenu Meeku Telusa...? in 2008.
Achu is the grand-son of an eminent music director B. A. Chidambaranath who is considered to be one among the pioneers of Malayalam music industry. His father, Rajamani, is also a very popular music director who scored for more than 800 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. Achu learned Carnatic classical from a popular music director M. M. Keeravani. He is also a professional pianist and has accompanied his father playing the piano to many of his compositions.[1] He is a graduate from Loyola College, Chennai
Hailing from a musical family, Achu's natural interest was to become a musician. He first played keyboard for Malayalam film Keerthi Chakra released in 2006 and directed by Major Ravi. This resulted in another big opportunity for Achu when he was called upon to score the background music for its sequel film Kurukshetra which released in 2008.
Following this short stint, Achu got his major break when he got to compose the songs and background score for a Telugu film Nenu Meeku Telusa...? in 2008.
The same film was remade in Tamil and titled as Ennai Theriyuma. He collaborated with composer Dharan for the score of these two films. His next work was for the Telugu remake of Tamil hit Polladhavan. The Telugu version named Kurradu starring Varun Sandesh was released in 2009.
