B.R.Chopra is no more

The man who really brought into existence the now hugely respectable brand name in Bollywood "Chopra" and the most senior member of the celebrated Bollywood film making family has bid adieu to the world.

Baldev Raj Chopra, the legendry and one of most senior director/producer of Hindi films and elder brother of Yash Chopra took his last breath today morning at 9.15 am at his residence in Juhu.

The subjects of all the movies that he directed and produced from 1951 to 1992 beared the stamp of his commitment towards the society and his strong belief that films should always be a medium to create changes by presenting social issues and should not be seen just as a way to earn money.

Yash Chopra started his illustrious career in film making under B.R.Chopra by directing the movie 'Dhool Ka Phool' produced under the banner of B.R.Films started by the veteran in 1955.

B.R.Chopra was also the man responsible for creating one of the most remembered television programes in India presenting through the small screen one of the greatest epics of the world- Mahabharat.

Out of the numerous awards that were been bestowed upon him over the years, the most notable ones are the three National awards for his films, 'Dharmputra', 'Gumrah' and 'Humraaz'.

In 1998 he was also conferred with the Indian government's highest honour to a film personality-the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
