Last Friday saw the release of a small time film titled 'Janani' that stars Bhagyashree, Ayesha Jhulka, Mohnish Behl and Aman Behl.
The film is touted to have a bold theme since it narrates the tale of a young man falling in love with a girl who turns out to be his sister! Shocking? Yes. But the most original ever? Certainly not!
Film buffs may remember that around half a century back [in 1960], there was a film released by the name of 'Bambai Ka Babu'. This was the first time in Hindi cinema when a bold theme dealing with an incestuous relationship was tackled. Directed by Raj Khosla, the film had starred Dev Anand and Suchitra Sen as the lead protagonists.
Though beyond the basic shock value in the two films, the script and storyline of 'Janani' is completely different, one certainly can't deny the fact that it is not the most original ever!
