Munnabhai's Music Disappoints

Rajkumar Hirani's 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. A sequel to the super hit 'Munnabhai MBBS' the crackling chemistry between Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi is one of the finest camaraderie-teams in Hindi cinema.

Abbas Tyrewala's witty dialogues were applauded for the ingenuous usage of the local idiom with a more poignant emotion. The music of 'LRM' was released recently and its CD cover is more interesting than the music score. It has a Stamp with Sanju, Arshad and Vidya Balan perched atop a mo-bike while contours of Gandhi ji are dotted in the sky. There's a seal from Munnabhai proclaiming: Apun Ka Gaana No.1 written upside down.

While Anu Malik's situational music picked up after 'Munnabhai MBBS' became a rage, Shantanu Moitra's music score will also be depending heavily on the visuals of the film.

There's nothing outstanding in any of the songs. And except for an innovative 'Samjho Ho Hi Gaya' (Where Sanju and Arshad take to the mike too), all the other songs are just about ok. In fact one of the numbers 'Pal Pal'.Pal Pal' is a blatant copy of Cliff Richard classic 'Theme For a Dream'. After the magnetic appeal of 'Parineeta' and 'Yahaan', the music of 'LRM' is a let down from Moitra whose strength lies in melody and not parody numbers.
