Nana Patekar is an unusual actor who prefers to lead a reclusive life. On his own terms and conditions. He is also a national level shooter as well. Well, he combined his goofiness with his trigger happy ways when on May 13th 2005 he allegedly threatened industrialist Kamal Morarka's nephew Utkarsh with a revolver after a near collision between the both their cars on the Mumbai-Pune Highway. Utkarsh lodged a complaint with the police. Nana on his part lodged a counter-complaint that on his way to Pune two unidentified men in a Scorpio almost hit his Lancer and that it was an attempt to murder.
After almost one and a half years, the matter seems to be winding up. The Deonar Police who are investigating the complaints have claimed that the cases are false and should be dismissed. Last week they filed a report in a magistrate's court at Kurla seeking permission to classify the cases as 'B' summary i.e. false cases. The court has asked Utkasrh and Nana Patekar to be present on January 9, 2007 to let the court know if either of them wants to pursue their complaints. The police had earlier charged Patekar under sections 323, 504 and 506 (2) of the IPC and certain sections of the Arms Act. Patekar had later secured an anticipatory bail from the Bombay High Court.
It seems in all probability that the case will be quashed on January 9th and hopefully Patekar won't go gun hopping again considering the price Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan have paid in the past. He had a hit this year in the form of 'Taxi No 9 2 11' and is all set to star along with Shahid Kapoor in a comedy to be directed by Rohit Shetty (Golmaal fame).
