When everyone from the lead actors to the directors and the other technicians are getting the kind of remuneration which they could not even think 10 years back, why should all the low end technicians like the light boys, carpenters, and junior artists among others be denied the benefits enjoyed by a new Bollywood getting swollen by the corporate money?
They felt discriminated. So they revolted and now have got their long pending dues.
The three day long strike called by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees ( FWICE) has produced the desired results as the producers association has agreed to most of demands put forth by the workers which includes less working hours, timely and better payments etc.
1,40, 000 workers representing 22 unions had participated in the three days long strike which was called off after the producers agreed to their demands.
As a result of the new meeting between the representatives of the film financiers and the workers a new agreement agreeing on new payments and work hours have been signed.
