Who says only songs help a film to succeed?

by mymazaa.com

There have been numerous instances when hit songs have helped a fill to succeed at the box office. Most recent examples that come to mind are 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' and 'Aksar'. But then there are also examples when a movie may have average to bad songs and still the power of script and performances have helped them sail through the box office.

'Malamaal Weekly' is the latest example of a film turning into a superhit in spite of the fact that it had just about average songs. In fact there was no song promotion at all for this film that had comedy as its strength. Even if one goes a little in past, 'No Entry' is another glaring example when the songs became popular only after the movie turned into superhit. Anu Malik's music was nothing great shakes and belonged to the 90s style but that didn't deter audiences from flocking the theatres.

And then who can ever forget about the biggest money spinner of all times, 'Gadar - Ek Prem Katha'? The movie was an out an out action drama with not many really interested in hearing Uttam Singh's compositions. It was only after the movie became a blockbuster that the audio sales soared.

Yes, its good to have superhit songs but its NOT the only thing to help the movie succeed at the BO!
