Set in Goa, Murder 2 is the story of Arjun Bhagwat (Emraan), an ex-cop, who earns his livelihood by doing odd jobs. For For him, money is everything and he can take up any job to earn it.

In his quest to earn money, Arjun meets Sameer, a Goan gangster, who has been suffering a huge loss as his girls have been running away. Knowing Arjun's expertise in investigation as an ex-cop, he assigns Arjun for the job offering him a huge sum and asks him to find those girls.

Priya (Jacqueline), a model, is deeply in love with Arjun. But Arjun doesn't reciprocate because for him the only thing that matters is money.

While investigating, Arjun realises that missing girls are connected by a cell phone number. He devises a plan to send Reshma (Sulagna), a young college girl who is also a sex worker, to Dheeraj Pandey's (Prashant) house. But the unexpected happens when it is revealed that Dheeraj is a serial killer and that he has turned into an eunuch.

Arjun gets into a tiff with Dheeraj and they both land up at a police station, where Dheeraj confesses to the heinous crimes he did in the past. Now Arjun has to find evidence against Dheeraj and trace Reshma, who he sent, with in one night.

What separates Murder 2 from Raaz 2 is that fact that the former is more edge of the seat with elements which can make one glued to the story. Mohit Suri handles with panache to expose the dark corners of the story. Writer Shagufta Rafique deserves a thumps up for the way he visioned the film. Rare example of good writing.

The story is fresh and appalling with some uncomfortable elements such as too much violence and intimate moments. But the writer made sure that the soul of Murder remains intact in Murder 2. Characters introduced are either grey or black but prove a point why they are introduced in such a way.

The screenplay is pulsating though it has it’s loopholes as time progresses but Director Mohit Suri’s way of story telling keeps one getting enthralled with scenes one hardly expects. He uses Ravi Walia, the cameraman to capture the dark and hooker-filled streets of Goa with utmost detailing. Ravi Walia is another plus factor. Songs though not upto the mark of the prequel, they play their part in the film.

While it is the antagonist played by Prashant Narayanan, who steals the show with his towering performance, Emraan Haashmi does a fair job too as he once again lives upto his serial kisser image. Jacqueline with her oomph factor does a good job. Their steamy scenes are many, which only add to the film’s story. Sulagna Panigrahi, Sudhanshu Pandey and Shweta Kawatra portray their roles to perfection. Yana Gupta sizzles in her song.

On the whole, Murder 2 is not for family viewing but it will leave an impact for sure. Although it’s not a sequel, with fresh characters and being bold and erotic, Murder 2 is quite enjoyable this weekend.
