Shourya Movie Reviews

Shourya Review

The care of brother towards sister in ‘Shourya’ (remake of Shouryam Telugu released on September 25, 2008 starring Gopichand) releasing at the beginning of festival time in ‘Shravana Masa’ is rightly timed. A few days back the brother and sister festival ‘Nagara Panchami’ was celebrated in a traditional way. This one is of course stitched by the original writer to the star images like Darshan.

The thirsty fans of Darshan are going to have lovely time watching this movie because the wonderful action and sharp dialogues titillate them but for serious film viewer this is just an ordinary film.

After ‘Porkhi’ in the end of January 2010 none of the Darshan film had got released and ‘Shourya’ although with popular points in the cinema takes the credit for long lapse.

The young son and daughter of a Rowdy is treated shabbily by the people in the colony makes the siblings – Soorya (Darshan) and sister Vidya (Reema Varma) beg for filling the hunger. That does not pay the results. Soorya goes to sell the only ring in the hand of his sister but he is mistaken as thief. When he running back to meet his sister she is convinced by Abhalashrama (children care home) principal to come with him for safety of life.

Soorya as a young boy decides that his sister will be safe in orphan home and urge the principal to take her. He utters a lie that she is not his sister when Vidya compels. Hapless Soorya beg with the cop for living that turns very positive for me.

Soorya now after 15 years is upright cop take the responsibility of teaching right lessons to Vijayendra Varma and team as they have killed the senior cop his guardian (played by Avinash).

It is a killing spree for cop Soorya and he brings in the fear in Vijayendra Varma using his tricks. That obviously helps the poor to get their lost property and money. Vijayendra Varama going very down in his charisma finds the clue that Soorya has a sister. It is ultimate step for Vijayendra Varama and most wanted sister for Soorya.

How Soorya protects his sister against all odds is the climax of the film ‘Shourya’ narrated in the dangerous style.

It is fit role for Darshan. As a fighter, cop, romancing with Madhalasa he is too good. The screaming dialogues at places thrill his fans. Madhalasa shaking legs with Darshan in song numbers is very cute. Reema Varma as sister has not much to convince that she is a good actress.

Sampath Kumar as new villain sounds good in dialogues but he does have the terror looks. John Kokkin is wasted.

Sadhu Kokila also scoring the music besides directing the film in a copy book style has not lived up to the expectations in music. As a comedian Sadhu Kokila is not in his usual wit and humor.

Ramesh Babu as cameraman supports well. The outdoor and indoor shots of Ramesh Babu are admirable. The chase and action scenes are stunning at places.
