The Hindi film lovers there can see Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in flesh and blood when they come tomorrow at nine in P.V.R.Theatre in Hyderabad. This is not the first time the Bachchans are coming to the city. They came for promoting the first part 'Sarkar' when it was released. But at that time only the senior and junior Bachchan came as at that time Aishwarya was still not a member of the first family of Bollywood. Ram Gopal Varma although started his career in Tollywood did not continue there. Bachchan: Cut To Size
'Provoked' director Jagmohan Mundhra is all set to start shooting his much-publicised biopic of Congress President Sonia Gandhi this September. Monica Bellucci has a striking similarity with the facial demeanour of the enigmatic Congress leader who relinquished the post of Prime Minister amidst tremendous drama in the year 2004. Mundhra plans to shoot on the actual locations linked to Sonia's life in Italy, Cambridge and New Delhi. Currently Mundhra is in London to get the pre-production in order; apart from finalizing the cast. He has a meeting lined up with Bollywood's answer to Brad Pitt, Zayed Khan who in all probability may play the contentious role of Sanjay Gandhi while Sanjay Suri is most probably the final choice of playing the gentle-n-affable Rajiv Gandhi. As regards the film's other pivotal character of Indira Gandhi, Mundhra is planning to cast acclaimed theatre actress Shernaz Patel (Rani Mukherjee's mother in 'Black') The important players like Amitabh Bachchan and Maneka Gandhi have been relegated to bit roles as Mundhra obviously doesn't want to un-ruffle feathers of goodwill. It was earlier stated that Abhishek Bachchan may be penciled in to enact his father's part, but now there's no urgency to search for a high profile actor. Mundhra is also scouting for an actress to play the younger version of Sonia as Monica herself wants to play Sonia only from 30 to 55 years. Whenever that younger actress is finalized, MusicMazaa will be the first to let you know.
Bachchan launches Lights, Camera, Masala!
Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of the International Indian Film Academy yesterday launched the IIFA commemorative book - 'Lights, Camera, Masala!' at the plush Dubai five star hotel Grand Hyatt, during the ongoing IIFA Weekend The book LIGHTS CAMERA MASALA is an insider's look at the glitz, grit and grandeur of Hindi Cinema , the world's largest film industry. It is a celebration of contemporary Hindi cinema , popularly known as Bollywood. The book documents the fascinating process of making a typical commercial Hindi film through the adventures of a pair of fictitious characters called Vijay and Ravi as they endeavor to make a Hindi film of their own. Famous film personalities - from seasoned scriptwriters such as the Salim-Javed duo, to celebrated actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, and renowned directors like Ramesh Sippy and Karan Johar - all share their experiences and provide fresh insights into film making. Lights Camera Masala also records the stories of the behind-the-scenes people who are such an intrinsic part of the Hindi Film industry machinery - a light boy, a make-up artist, a choreographer among others. Featuring the emergence of stars as brands and culminating with the glitzy IIFA awards, the book is a visual extravaganza. Sheena Sippy's stunningly evocative photographs capture the grandeur, grit and madness that is 'Bollywood'. Luxuriously packaged in an avant-garde design with over-the-top special features, including a fold-out poster and a star studded pinwheel, Lights, Camera, Masala!is a rich tribute to the chaotic, entertaining world of Hindi cinema. The book has been authored by Naman Ramachandran, a screenwriter, film-maker, film festival programmer and film critic who writes for several publications including the British Film Institute's prestigious Sight and Sound. Naman is currently attached to several Hindi films, British and American projects as screenwriter and/or director. He divides his time between London, Los Angeles and Mumbai.
Bachchan wanted umeed se duguna?
The Kaun Banega Crorepati controversy ceases to die down. Rumours are spreading as if flames of a house on big time fire. There were reports that Big B is very upset with Star Plus and SRK for going ahead with KBC even though he was keen on doing it. But if a tabloid report is to be believed then, the reason why the channel went ahead with SRK was Bachchan insisting on getting double his price for finishing off the remaining 26 episodes (the episodes left due to Mr Bachchan's illness last year). Umeed se duguna'Anyone' Shahrukh Khan on the other hand is leaving no stone unturned in stressing that he is 'Not going to be a host but a dost.' At a press conference in Delhi yesterday, SRK was in good humour and answered the probing questions in a lighthearted manner. He also said that he is willing to go on his knees to convince Mr Bachchan to be a celebrity contestant on his show. 'I would drive him myself to the studio,' he said. Shahrukh Khan will address the media in Mumbai today. You bet, it's gonna be one hell of an event'.
Bachchan in Hindi Next Month
The dubbed version of Sudeep-starrer Bachchan will release in Hindi in July. The audio launch of the film is scheduled for later this month. Director Shashank confirmed this development but said the film's dubbing rights in Hindi were sold by the producer Uday K Mehta and it was a Mumbai-based movie house which was releasing the film. "We have been let known that the film is releasing next month and the audio launch is this month. They have already contacted Tulip, one of the heroines for promotion purpose. If I am approached, I will be glad to attend," he said. The Tamil and Telugu dubbing rights are still with Uday Mehta and the producer himself may release the film in these two languages. Shashank said, "the film has to be released in both these languages simultaneously. There are many restrictions for dubbed films in Tamil and it is the Telugu market that is more important. The producer did not sell the rights immediately as he was expecting better returns given that the film has done well. All new returns will be profits and he does not want to throw away things. It will be a properly planned release in Telugu and Tamil."
Bachchans kick start 2007
It would be an eventful beginning for the Bachchans as both father and son kick start the New Year with a film each coming one after another. While 'Zamaanat' would mark the beginning of the year for the elder Bachchan on January 5th, son Abhishek would be enjoying a much higher profile 'Guru' the very next Friday i.e. January 12th. 'Guru' especially is expected to embark on a successful route since the promos are looking quite interesting and the music has reached the top of the charts while displacing hot selling 'Dhoom 2'. Also for those who believe in the 'theory of jinxes', there are finally cheers all around since Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have together delivered a massive hit in the form of 'Dhoom 2' after a disastrous outing in 'Umrao Jaan'. With the two paired as husband and wife in 'Guru', the expectations form 'Guru' are at an all time high!
