Back in favor

In the last few months, music directors from Tamil, especially Yuvan Shankar Raja, Srikanth Deva and Harris Jeyaraj have been ruling the roost here. Many of the local musicians had to take a back seat here. Only Keeravani shone with his outstanding work in Sri Ramadasu (of course, he blotted his copybook through some unwarranted comments on the movie in an interview later). Anyway, the good news is that Telugu musicians seem to be back in favor. Devi Sri Prasad seems to have redeemed himself through Pournami. Now another old warhorse R P Patnaik is in circulation again. R P, who had been busy in Kannada, is now set to score tunes for his old friend Teja. The duo had given many memorable movies together in the past. R P will score the music for Teja's movie for Kalyanram. R P's tunes will also be heard in Sairam Shankar's movie. Elsewhere, Manisharma is also getting busy with movies like Satyam Shivam Sundaram.

Welcome back, Chiru

It is always nice to have Chiranjeevi back at where belongs --- Hyderabad. It has been one long period of absence for the big star from his base. Recently he was in the USA for the ATA celebrations. Chiru wowed them all with his humility and effervescent presence. Before the USA trip, Chiru was fully immersed in the shoot of Stalin in Chennai. The film's shoot was also carried out in many parts of Europe. But now the Stalin team is back in Hyderabad these days. Stalin, a radical movie, with Chiru in the lead, has Murugadoss directing it. Trisha plays the heroine. Kushboo has a meaty role.

Back to back releases again for Amisha - Again!

This has been happening to Amisha Patel too often! At the beginning of the year came 'Mere Jeevan Saathi', 'Teesri Aankh - The Hidden Camera' and 'Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai' - each of them long in the making/stuck in the cans - that pretty much came close to each other and unfortunately for her failed to make any impression at the box office. Her fresh lot of films look interesting though, inspite of the fact that they again come back to back. First to come is 'Tathastu' that releases coming Friday i.e. 12th May. Though the film was completed some time back, it is getting released only now. A week later she would be seen in Vikram Bhatt's 'Ankahee' where she enjoys an author backed role of a female who comes out strong inspite of being wronged by her husband [Aftab Shivdasani]. One hopes that these two films give her a much required success that is evading her for quite a while now!

Back from New York. Akshaye on a roll!!

Akshaye is back in town from his vacation from New York. The break has done him a lot of good he has also lost weight and looks good. Career wise too he is gonna be on a roll this year with unexceptional line up of films up his sleeves post the success of '36 China Town.' In addition, Anil Kapoor is so impressed with Akshaye's performance in Mahatma v/s Gandhi that he has already signed him for his next production with Ashwariya. This makes it quite sure that the 'Taal' team will repeat the same magic. Incidentally all his co-stars swear by the talented Akshaye. Ayesha Takia can't stop raving about him since their last film together. And now even Priyanka has formed a mutual admiration society with Akshaye for their forthcoming 'Aap Ki Khatir.' Besides his co-stars, he is also a favorite with his producers right from Subhash Ghai (Taal, China Town) to Ratan Jain (Humraaz, Hulchul, Hungama) who always repeat him in their films. Says Akshaye, "It's been a nice and rejuvenating break. I am excited and looking forward to my forthcoming releases." And he should definitely be looking forward to that, what with Ratan Jain 'Aap Ki Khatir', Anil Kapoor's 'Mahatma v/s Gandhi' & Nikhil Advani's 'Salaam-E- Ishq' slated for release this year. It's gonna be quite an eventful year this year. Watch out as Akshaye is on a roll!
