Bajrangi Bhaijaan' trailer: Salman Khan chants Hanuman Chalisa

Helpful 'Bajrangi' has returned to his action avatar! The trailer of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, released on Thursday, shows the actor reciting the Hanuman Chalisa while embarking on an action-filled journey from India to Pakistan. Showing Salman with tears in his eyes as he commences his odessey from India to Pakistan in this Kabir Khan directorial, the trailer features the actor's stunts, Kareena Kapoor Khan's ethnic Indian wear and the comic avatar of Nawazuddin Siddiqui -- all in all, the trailer is quite a visual delight. The two-and-half minute video starts with Salman asking a little girl (Harshaali Malthotra) about her nationality. But since she can’t speak, Salman, as the innocent and “bhola bhala” Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi, fondly called as 'Bajrangi', remains unaware that she hails from Pakistan. It’s only after the India-Pakistan cricket match that Pavan comes to know that the girl is a Pakistani. He is given orders to ferry her to Pakistan and Pavan being a Lord Hanuman devotee, decides to take her to Pakistan without any passport or visa. The trailer sees Salman fighting all the odds to help the little girl reach her home safely, and features Kareena looking beautiful in her role of Rasika, a school teacher. One also gets a glimpse of Kashmir. Nawazuddin, who plays the role of a Pakistani reporter in the film, is likely to deliver yet another powerhouse performance with this film. After Salman's fellow Khans Shah Rukh and Aamir promoted the first look of “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” on Twitter, fans were anxiously awaiting its trailer. The buzz is also strong especially after the success of Kabir and Salman's last outing “Ek Tha Tiger”. “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” is likely to release on July 18, on the occasion of Eid, which has always turned out to be a win-win situation for Salman at the box office.

'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' will bring back my innocence: Salman

After showcasing his “Dabangg” avatar and going rogue in “Ek Tha Tiger”, superstar Salman Khan says he is on a mission to search for his “innocence and sincerity” through his next two release -- “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”. “I didn’t prepare for the film (‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’) at all... This movie needed sincerity and innocence which I had lost somewhere. So, I have tried to bring back my sincerity and innocence with both my films -- ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’,” Salman told reporters during a promotional visit for “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” here on Tuesday. Along with Salman, director Kabir Khan, actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, singers Mika Singh, Adnan Sami, Jubin Nautiyal and Amar Butala, CEO of Salman Khan Films were also present at the press conference. The actor has entertained film-goers by channeling rough and brawny characters on the silver screen through a slew of films be it “Wanted’, “Dabangg”, “Ek Tha Tiger” or “Kick”. “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” also runs high on action and emotional quotient. It is a story about a man discovering love during a journey from India to Pakistan as he takes a dumb and mute girl back to her country. The film will hit the screens on Friday. Salman is also caught up with Sooraj Barjatya’s family entertainer "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", which stars Sonam Kapoor. The actor will be seen revisiting his popular cinema name 'Prem' in the film, which is special for many reasons. It also marks Salman's return to a Barjatya film after 15 years -- after the 1999 movie "Hum Saath-Saath Hain".

Bajrangi Bhaijaan' team in Delhi, Salman sings with Mika

There was fun, glitz and Bollywood glamour "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" style as superstar Salman Khan joined singer Mika Singh to sing "Aaj ki party meri taraf se" during a promotional visit for his forthcoming film along with its team including co-stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui here on Tuesday. The "Dabangg" star turned on the party mode of the press conference as he entered the venue amid loud applause. Director Kabir Khan, singer Adnan Sami, singer Jubin Nautiyal and Salman Khan Films CEO Amar Butala were also present at the event. "Salman bhai wanted to sing the song," Mika said before picking the mike for the performance. While Salman chuckled: "Mika stole my song." The film, which will hit the screens on Friday, has been extensively shot in Mandawa, Kashmir and Delhi. Kabir noted that coming to Delhi for promotion holds a special place in his heart for many reasons. "It feels good to be back in Delhi because I'm from Delhi. So, coming to Delhi for promotions feels great,” he told reporters. Sami also sang some lines of his song of the film: "Bhar do jholi meri". But Nautiyal captured everyone’s attention by crooning his number "Zindagi kuch toh bata". The film narrates a story of a man out on a journey from India to Pakistan in his endeavour to take a dumb and mute young girl back to her home across the border. Along with action, music and dance, the high point of the film is its emotional factor. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is Salman’s second film with Kabir after "Ek Tha Tiger". And the 49-year-old actor shared that working with the director again was a "fun" experience. "Working with Kabir this time was better than the first and I hope that our third outing will even be better," said Salman, who plays role of a Lord Hanuman devotee in the film. Ever since the launch of the trailer, the little girl has mesmerised everyone with her innocence and sincerity. Salman didn't forget to mention the child star, who has an important role in the film. He lauded her dedication. "Harshali Malhotra is very sweet. She is from Delhi, but has now shifted to Mumbai. She has done a great job in the film. She is very professional and focused,” said Salman, who looked casual in a white shirt and black trousers with a shiny 'gada' (mace)-shaped pendant dangling around his neck.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan': Another Eid miracle awaited from Salman Khan

Given the lacklustre journey of Bollywood in the first half of 2015, a remunerative miracle at the box office is much-awaited. All eyes are on superstar Salman Khan’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, which delves into Indo-Pak relations, to break the dry spell, say trade analysts. With only two films - "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and "ABCD 2" - crossing the Rs.100 crore mark in Hindi cinema in 2015 so far, expectations are high from Kabir Khan's directorial which is set to hit the screens on Friday. What's interesting is that the movie releases with a U/A certificate a day before Eid -- an occasion which has always reaped gold for Salman at the box office, proven by the success of films like "Kick", "Ek Tha Tiger", "Bodyguard", "Dabangg" and "Wanted". “Expectations from 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' are really huge. We are hoping that it may cross Rs.300 crore. Pre-booking of the film has been fantastic,” Delhi-based film distributor Joginder Mahajan told. Releasing on more than 5,000 screens across 50 countries, including the US, Britain, Pakistan and Australia, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles, is the story of a man discovering love during a journey from India to Pakistan as he takes a dumb and mute girl back to her country. According to Devang Sampat, business head - Strategy, Cinepolis, the anticipation from “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” is “humongous and the opening will be as grand as it could get”. “Right from the time when the teaser was released till the cusp of release date, the buzz has been getting stronger and stronger. The film is expected to outperform Salman’s previous releases and may make a box office record of Rs.300 crore plus numbers,” Sampat told. He added that more than 70 percent seats are booked and he is confident the opening weekend will go houseful for the movie. “Eid and Salman have been a lethal combination,” Sampat said. Another trade expert, Mumbai-based Rajesh Thadani, also said that "'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' will break Salman's earlier records". Currently, S.S. Rajamouli's southern magnum opus “Baahubali: The Beginning” is breaking Indian records. But it's success won't impact “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” -- which co-incidentally has been written by Rajamouli's father K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, who also penned "Baahubali" -- pointed out experts. “Overseas too, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is releasing in a record number of screens. The 'Baahubali' competition is there, but Salman has a big fan following overseas,” Thadani said. Sampat added: “Nothing can stop Salman from taking an opening and that too on Eid. Both movies can survive and perform at the box office. Salman has been a hero of the masses. It's a given that the film will work in tier-II and tier-III towns." However, the only place where the film might face some trouble is the national capital where the state government has hiked the entertainment tax. “It's sad that Delhi government is increasing the entertainment tax from 20 percent to 40 percent. Whenever there is a hike in entertainment tax, people skip going to cinema halls. But the business of the film will be huge pan-India,” Mahajan said. Till now, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” is riding on word of mouth publicity, and Salman's colleagues in filmdom -- Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan -- did their bit by publicising the first look of the film on Twitter. It now only remains to be seen whether the "Dabangg" Khan is able to spin his magic on the pious occasion of Eid once again!

Bajrangi Bhaijaan' mints over Rs.35 crore on Eid

The Eid has once again reaped gold for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as his latest offering “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, which released on Friday, witnessed a big hike at the domestic box office on the festive day. The film amassed Rs.36.50 crore on day two. After garnering appreciation from the film fraternity, who called “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” Salman's “best film ever”, the Kabir Khan directorial has managed to enthrall the viewers too. It collected Rs.27.25 crore on its opening day and took off in a big way on the Eid, taking its total collection to Rs.63.75 crore, read a statement. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, narrates the story of a Hindu man on a mission to take a Pakistani girl, who is dumb and mute, back to her country. It chronicles his adventures and experiences faced during his road trip. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film might break the opening weekend collection of Salman's last film “Kick”, which also released on Eid in 2014. “#BajrangiBhaijaan Fri 27.25 cr, Sat 36.50 cr (Eid). Total: 63.75 cr. FANTABULOUS... Should surpass #Kick opening weekend biz: 83.83 cr," Adarsh tweeted on Sunday. Co-produced by Salman Khan Films with Rockline Venkatesh, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” is the 49-year-old's first release since he was sentenced to five years in jail in the infamous 2002 hit-and-run case in May. The film, which was released on more than 5,000 screens across 50 countries, including the US, Britain, Pakistan, New Zealand and Australia, is making a mark overseas as well.
