Dr Ramineni Foundation used to extend awards in the form of one 'Visishta Puraskar' and three Visesha Puraskars. As part of these awards, senior artiste and heroine of yesteryears Anjali Devi is being presented the 'Visesha Puraskar' at the convention centre of Hotel Mariotte, Hyderabad. This was disclosed by AVS, Ramineni, committee members Vedacharya Ramineni and VV Rao at a press conference held at Taj Residency. Dr Ramineni Ayyanna Choudary is the founder of the foundation, while Dharma Pracharak Ramineni is the chairman, AVS is the convener, and M Chitranjan, vice-president, corporate affairs, ITC Group, Vasiraju Prakasam, V Mohana Rao, Vedacharya Ramineni, VV Rao are the members. Dr GN Rao, founder of LV Prasad Eye Institute, K Ramachandra Murthy, editor, Andhra Jyothy daily, Dr BV Patta Bhiram, magician and hypnotist are the members of the awards committee.
Dr Mohanbabu receives 'Padma Shri'
Dr Mohanbabu made his debut into films with 'Swargam-Narakam'. Later he played different characters as villain, comedy villain, character artiste and hero in over 500 films and earned a good name as a versatile artiste. He turned a producer and launched 'Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures' and produced 47 films on the banner and proved a successful producer. Moreover, he started educational institutions called 'Sri Vidya Nikethan' and is providing education to poor students with a concession of 25 per cent in fee. He served the film industry in various capacities. The Union government had announced 'Padma Shri' to this versatile artiste in recognition to his services to the film industry. Dr Mohanbabu had celebrated his birthday on March 19 and four days later, President APJ Abdul Kalam had handed over the award to Dr Mohanbabu on March 23. Presently Padma Shri Mohanbabu is producing 'Raju Bhai' and is playing a special role as Yama Dharma Raju in 'Yamadonga' being directed by SS Rajamouli.
Dr Rajendra Prasad-Visu combination film completes 50 per cent shoot
The first schedule of a film presented by CC Reddy and produced by Dr Y Sonia Reddy on the banner of Visu Films Pvt Ltd., with Dr Rajendra Prasad as hero wa completed recently. Presenter of the film CC Reddy says, 'We launched the film shooting on April 2 and continued it for 20 days without any break. We have completed almost 50 per cent of the film shooting during this schedule. After 'Aa Naluguru' Dr Rajendra Prasad liked this subject very well. There is no need for a special mention about the acting capabilities of Dr Rajendra Prasad. He moulded himself in the character of Prof Rajaji. There is a very good message in his character, in the story and its movement. We are very happy at giving a good film to the audiences and the film would earn a good name to our banner. We will soon announce the title for the movie.' Hero Rajendra Prasad says, 'After playing in 'Aa Naluguru' I thought my responsibility has gone up as an artiste. I am awaiting a good script for my next film and the subject narrated by Eswar Reddy motivated me to agree to play the role. I congratulate Eswar Reddy for taking up such a bold subject in his debut venture. I also thank CC Reddy for producing the film and it proves that he had good taste in making the films.' Director Eswar Reddy says, 'I am very happy that I was able to direct a senior artiste like Rajendra Prasad in my debut film. The cooperation extended by him is unmemorable. Likewise, CC Reddy is encouraging me a lot and he remained a God-Father for me. I was able to complete 50 per cent of the film with the cooperation from the members of the unit. The film would be completed in the next schedule to be taken up in May.'
Dr. Gayathris book on Superstar
Film stars, irrespective of cast, creed, gender, location, status or financial back ground entertain people belonging to all walks of life. And it was a personality from this same film field, Rajinikanth, who has inspired Dr. Gayathri Sreekanth to author a book on him. About the book: Being inspired by the superstar Dr. Gayathri wanted to show her appreciation towards her favorite star, and what best way to convey it than write a book on your idol. And that's exactly what she has done. Come March and Dr. Gayathri's book will be out in the markets for us to read and appreciate. The book is published by Om Books International, the same firm that published the biography of the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. When Dr. Gayathri approached Om Books International she was not sure if she could get the same publication house to prepare this book too, and was immensely happy when she got a green signal. The full length of Dr. Gayathri's book reads to around 350 pages. The doctor reveals that it was initially 600 pages big but has been crispy edited to fit 350 pages now. Om Books International is publishing the book both in English and Tamil. The book is more or less a chronicle where the author leads the audience through the facts and the interesting happenings in the life of superstar. Inputs: When Dr. Gayathri approached the superstar and told him about her plans on doing a biography on him, Rajinikanth wished her good luck and helped her in providing snaps to make the biography a more colorful one. The doctor says, more than anything else it was the humility of this actor that hit her the most. She was humbled by his speech and his simplicity, and has vowed that she too will adopt a lifestyle like her idol. A long way to go ma'am! Dr. Gayathri received very useful information from director AVM Saravanan, and she is very thankful for her association with him and his support in making her article more interesting and factual. The over-whelmed doctor is also very thankful to her husband and family who have stood by her in completing this book successfully. From the first day in March all Rajini fans can have a good insight in to the ways of the superstar through the book of Dr. Gayathri Sreekanth, because that is when this book will hit the stands. The English version is titled 'The Name Is Rajinikanth' and in Tamil it has aptly been named 'Pera Kettaley Chumma Athirudhulla'! Was that a rumbling that you heard now?
Dr.Mohan Babu in a new makeover
It is very truly said that variety is the spice of life. And more so when it comes to acting. This veteran entertained us with the role of 'Yama' in his film 'Yamadonga', and in his next film too he has a very prominent role to entertain the audience yet again. The film is 'Bujjigadu-Made in Chennai' directed by Puri Jagannadh. Dr. Mohan Babu has a never-seen-before role and look in this film. The actor has revealed that the reason for him accepting to do this film is because of the novelty in the role and the importance it carries in taking the story forward. Trisha is the heroine of this film and she gets to play the sister of Dr. Mohan Babu in this flick. The cast of this film includes Prabhas, the hero of the film, Dr. Mohan Babu, who gets to play a prominent role, Trisha is the heroine. Sanjana, Sunil, Ali, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jaiprakash Reddy, Raja Ravindra, M.S.Narayana, Ajay, Subbah Raju, Brahmaji, Khayum, Pragathi, Prabhas Seenu, Supreet, Rajesh, Ahuthi, Prasad, Hema, Sudha, Master Aakash, and Baby Pavitra make the rest of the cast. The camera has been handled by Shyam K.Naidu and K. Benarjee is the co-producer. 'Bujjigadu-Made in Chennai' is gearing up for a mid-summer release.
Dr.D.Ramanaidu's birthday today
The young man who came to Chennai with dreams held high of becoming a shining star in the cinema world was not able to make his ultimate ambition come true. Instead he became a person who was bestowed upon by the destiny to be a maker of films instead of just being part of the cast. There began the journey of Dr.D.Ramanaidu as a film financier and today after so many years in the world of films, the veteran is celebrating his 73rd birthday. Ramanaidu has till now produced more than hundred films under his banner Suresh Productions and hold the esteemed Guinness Book of Words Records for the large number of films he has produced in almost all the major languages of India.
