After Ullam Ketkumae, Shaam plays the prime male lead in Manadodu Mazhaikalam. Director Arpudan, who got his big break in the Super Good Films banner, said the story is confined to the happenings in a college and narrated in a poetic form. Keen to come good here is the young director after a subdued start in Arpudam. "Though my work came in for appreciation, I would have been happy for the film's success. There were profitable lessons to be learnt. Mandodu Mazhaikalam is sure to win the admiration of masses for it has a soft romantic story", he adds. Malluwood lass Nithya Dass and Arindhum Ariyamalum fame Samiksha play the heroines. Says Shaam, "The movie has come good and I am sure to make it big after the release. All credit goes to Arpudan for rendering an engrossing and a romantic tale". For Samiksha, it is a glamourous and a performance oriented role. Nithya Dass, who has to her credit several Malayalam movies, is making a splash in Malayalam. The other credits are: Music - Karthik Raja; Lyrics - Muthukumar; Dance - Raju Sundaram; Kalyan and Brindha; stunt - Guna and Art - Umesh K Rupesh.
A never-seen-before love story
'Kadhalil Vizhunthen', a movie directed by debutant P.V. Prasad, tells you a love story in a 'never-seen-before' style. P.V. Prasad, who had worked as an assistant with V. Sekar and Azhagam Perumal, has come out with such a novel treatment in 'Kadhalil VIzhunthen'. The unit proudly claims that film will be in the lines of films like 'Kadhal Kottai', 'Sethu', 'Autograph', 'Kadhal', which according to the unit, 'are movies that dared to deals with what others were hesitating to'. The storyline ' an action romantic set in the backdrop of a campus ' might sound old. But the daringly different treatment promises an exciting experience, say the insiders. The beginning scene itself, in which the hero meets the heroine, will throw a lot of surprises. Hero Nakulan, the younger brother of Devayani, has already donned a different role in Shankar's Boys. He plays the lead role in 'Kadhalil Vizhunthen'. He has worked hard to prepare himself for the movie. Sunena, making her debut in Tamil, has already acted in a couple Telugu movies. The movies have fetched her good name. Vijay Antony scores the music and talented young lyricist Thamarai writes the lyrics. Camera is handled by Vijay Milton. The shooting for 'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' will be made in Ooty, Thalakkonam, and Chennai. The movie is expected to hit the screens by early January.
Rajasekaran opts for love story
Gnana Rajasekaran, who has made films on the legendary personalities like Bharathiar and Periyar, is all set to make a film based on a love subject. The IAS officer turned filmmaker made his foray into filmdom with 'Mogamul', based on distinguished writer Thi. Janakiraman's renowned novel with the same title. He then followed up with biographical films on Tamil poet Bharathiar and revolutionary leader E.V.R. Periyar. Both received critical acclaim besides having a fair run in the theatres. All these films have established him as a realistic filmmaker, who never hesitates to experiment. Post Periyar, he wants to make a film in a different genre. 'A good filmmaker would succeed in any genre', says the director. Though he has sought the call sheet of Sandhya for the film, he is yet to decide whether she would don the role of the heroine. Whether it would be a multi heroine subject is yet to be known. The other members of the cast and the vital members in the crew are yet to be decided.
Love Story 2050 v/s Tashan.....
The month of April was supposed to set the stage on fire as the dates of the two most awaited movies of the year, Tashan and Love Story 2050 were set to clash. While one film will see the hottest and the most talked about couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor along with Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor, the other is the debut of Harman Baweja opposite his good friend Priyanka Chopra. Both, Tashan and Love Story 2050 have been cushion-backed by mega bucks Aditya Chopra and Harry Baweja who have made sure that their respective films set the stage on fire. However, Love Story 2050 has been pushed further down by two months. For now the movie is set to release in the month of June which means Tashan will be the solo release on 25th April till any other producer decides to give it competition.
'Love Story 2050' Merchandise launched
Bringing out different products that appeals to old and young alike based on the themes and nature of the films have lately caught the fancy of filmmakers. An Hollywood import, this way of creating hype, more publicity, attractiveness, and raising money is a tested method for marketing the movies in the west. Harry Baweja, had also thought upon creating and merchandising the products of his directorial venture and his son's debut film 'Love Story 2050'. He saw his ideas becoming real on June 18 when Adlabs Films Limited and Baweja Movies in association with Cartoon Network Enterprises launched movie merchandise across five categories like publishing, Toys, Home Furnishings, Apparel and Novelty. The products will be made available under the brand name of the famous kids channel POGO. Spy gadgets, hovercraft, special masks, very attractive and stylish bed sheets, pillow covers, tops and tees for both boys and girls are the products that have been designed keeping the Sci-Fi futuristic theme of the film. The products that are available in a range of colours also include exiting comics and different types of colouring books. The most attractive from the whole of merchandise range is the cuddly robot pet Boo which will be always with the character played by Priyanka Chopra in the film. The prices of the toys start from as low as Rs.49 to Rs.3459 and will be available across the stores in India. On the occasion of unveiling the products Harry Baweja said that Cartoon Network Enterprises have done a great job to replicate the essence of 'Love Story 2050' in the products, which are very appealing to the young and old alike. Executive Director for India and South Asia of Cartoon Network Enterprises, Mr. Jiggy George said that Movie merchandise is another tantalizing peak into what a movie has in store for its audience and its another touch point, promotional medium and yet a keepsake of an exciting dream world. He also told that with the spy gadgets, hover crafts, interactive robots, the cute Boo doll, fun comics and the stylish and slick apparel and furnishings, Cartoon Network Enterprises hopes to uphold and build on to the anticipation of the biggest Sci-Fi Bollywood film- LoveStory 2050. Saurabh Varma, Chief Marketing Officer of Relinace Big Pictures said that the company is extremely proud to be associated with the film that has already achieved an iconic status and with this endeavor Reliance see the concept of merchandising becoming a rage in the film industry with producers looking at such extensions for their films.
KYA LOVE STORY HAI music out on March 14th
Though majority of film makers are shying away from bringing their films in the middle of World Cup Cricket, there are some who are taking a chance and releasing their films in the month of April. N.R. Pachisia is one of them who is gearing up for the release of his popcorn entertainer KYA LOVE STORY HAI. The promotion of this Tushar Kapoor-Ayesha Takia film has begun which is being readied for a April 06 release. Directed by debutant Lovely Singh, the film has a special attraction in the form of an item number that has been choreographed on Kareena Kapoor. The release date of the audio release of the film has been announced as March 14th as the music arrives on T-Series. Stay tuned for a peppy youthful score!
