More news →'Maya' director is back with a new team
Ashwin Saravanan made a strong impact with his debut horror flick 'Maya' that released in 2015. Now the young filmmaker is getting ready with his second. The second Tamil film to be written and directed by Ashwin will be produced by G.A.Harikrishnan of Moemnt Entertainment banner along with WTF Entertainment banner of Rohith Ramesh. Hari Krishnan has worked as the production manger in Karthik Subbaraj's 'Jigarthanda', director Manikandan's 'Kaaka Muttai' and 'Aandavan Kattalai' that stars Vijay Sethupathi and Rithika Singh in lead roles. The team is presently scouting for the best artists and technicians of the film.Official updates on the cast and crew will be available soon.
Mayakkannadi on April 12
Mayakkannadi, which brings director Cheran and Navya Nair together for the first time, is all set for a release this April 12. Cheran, interestingly, is also the director of this film. Another interesting fact about this film is that the story is set in an urban backdrop unlike Cheran's earlier films. The pictures of this film have him sporting a different get-up altogether and this gives us an impression that Mayakkannadi will be a different film from the path-breaking director's stable. Mayakkannadi is produced by veteran Panchu Arunachalam's son Srinivasan under his Chellamai Celluloid banner. Dwaraknath is the cinematographer for this film.
Mayakkannadi gets 'U' certificate
Cheran's movies are always for the family. His latest one, Mayakkannadi, seems no different as it has got a clean 'U' certificate from the censors. Mayakkannadi has Cheran and Navya Nair playing beauty parlor employees with colorful dreams of making it big in life. Veteran Radha Ravi plays a pivotal character. Mayakkannadi releases for Tamil New Year.
Mayakkannadi: Reflecting disturbing truths
Director-actor Cheran dealt in detail about the travails of youths yearning to work abroad for livelihood in Vettrikodi Kattu. Now his forthcoming release Mayakkannadi will go a step further and conveys the message that youngsters' in their desire to earn money they should not give up their moral values. Says Cheran, 'The movie is a lesson for youngsters. I am confident that it would give an answer to several questions haunting their minds in this competitive world today'. Keeping up his reputation intact, Cheran has managed to get a 'U' certificate for his film. He promises that there would be no double entendre, glamorous or item numbers in the movie. 'It is a serious film with a purpose'. Produced by Subbu (Panchu Arunachalam's son), the movie has musical score by Ilayaraja and Navya Nair and Radha Ravi play prominent roles besides Cheran.
Mayakkannadi trimmed
Actor ' director Cheran's Mayakkannadi ran for over three hours. The movie which opened in all the theatres from the Tamil New Year's day has won good reviews. Cheran has now trimmed the movie by half-an hour. After requests from fans and theatre-owners, the decision to trim the film has been taken. According to him, 'Mayakkannadi reflects the life of youngsters living in Chennai. It is a tale of their aspirations and dreams. I am confident that it would be lapped up by the youths'. 'We have shot the film for over a year and are totally convinced about the end product. No doubt the audience too would enjoy the film. Especially in rural areas, the response has been amazing', he adds.
Mayajaal offers more Screens
Chiyaan Vikram took a break from the hectic schedule of 'Kanthaswamy' shooting to inaugurate four new Screens in Mayajal Complex, located in the outskirts of the city today (February 20). With this, Mayajaal Multiplex has 10 Screens and becomes the largest multiplex in Tamil Nadu. With the opening of these four new Screens, Mayajaal has also becomes one of the largest multiplexes in Asia. The multiplex, in addition to its regular blockbuster films in Tamil, Hindi, and English languages, is expected to play host to an array of south Indian language films including Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. This, the authorities believe, would tap more customers from Chennai and Pondicheri. Additional food court area of 15000 sq. ft. has also been added to offer a variety of Indian and international fast food brands. There will be shopping mall under the brand 'Maya Maal', under which apparels for men, women, and children, cosmetics, fashion jewelry, books, movies, music, gifts, toys, etc will be sold. The complex also encompasses and 'On shore resort' with 50 rooms and a sport village with two international cricket grounds. With this expansion, Mayajaal offers 10 Screen Multiplex, Food Court, Shopping Mall, Sports Club, and a Resort with multiple conference halls. In addition to this, Mayajaal Entertainment Ltd has also produced a 2D animation film 'Jai Vigneshwara'. The movie is just completed and scheduled for a summer release.
