'Rustom' new poster out! Akshay Kumar looks dapper as naval officer

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has unveiled a new poster of his upcoming Bollywood film 'Rustom'! Check it out... For those excited to watch the film's promo, 'Rustom' trailer will be out on June 30 at 9 am. Hrithik Roshan-Akshay Kumar set for box office clash in August While sharing the poster of the film, Akshay Kumar wrote, "Rustom's patriotism & integrity were questioned. Did he fight back? #3DaysToRustomTrailer @Rustom_Film" Inspired by real life incidents, 'Rustom' is touted to be a romantic-thriller set in the late 1950s. Buzz is that the film is based on the 1959 Nanavati case where naval officer Kavas Maneckshaw Nanavati was tried for the murder of his wife’s lover. The film marks Akshay's third collaboration with Neeraj Pandey. Akshay and Neeraj have earlier worked as actor-director in 'Baby' and 'Special 26', both of which found appreciation. 'Rustom', however, is not being directed by Pandey, and instead marks the directorial debut of Tinu Suresh Desai. Pandey will pen the dialogues of the film himself; will co-write the screenplay along with Vipul Rawal; and also contribute towards the film's edit. Hrithik Roshan Says He Loved The Rustom Trailer, Akshay Kumar Responds

Among the many who’ve loved the trailer of Akshay Kumar’s Rustom that released yesterday, Hrithik Roshan, too, wasn’t far behind. Though Hrithik’s film, Mohenjo Daro, also releases on the same day as Rustom, the actor was generous in his praise of Akshay’s film. Here’s the superstar’s tweet praising the trailer a short while after it was launched:

Box office: Akshay Kumar's 'Rustom' beats Hrithik Roshan's 'Mohenjo Daro' on Day 1

It is advantage Rustom over Mohenjo Daro on day one with the Akshay Kumar-starrer taking a better opening at the box office over Hrithik Roshan’s period drama in the first big-ticket clash of 2016. The Khiladi’s thriller released across 2,300 screens in India, about 400 less than its competitor, but managed to pull in more crowds. The film is also enjoying a good, if not outstanding, word-of-mouth and the collections are expected to soar over the weekend and Monday, which coincides with Independence Day — a national holiday. Trade pundit Vishekh Chauhan said, “Rustom has emerged as the clear winner. It is leading across India, barring a few pockets in South India. Places like Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad have warmed up to Mohenjo Daro. If you consider the average occupancy rate, Akshay’s film had an edge of 15-20 per cent over Hrithik’s. The lifetime collection difference is expected to be Rs 20-30 crore.” The Hrithik-starrer managed to bag more screens given a three-film agreement between producers, UTV, and single screen theatre owners. The deal covers Baaghi, which released last April, Mohenjo Daro and Dangal in December. “As a result, a bulk of single screens is exclusively showcasing Mohenjo Daro because they want Dangal, a solo release. They don’t mind forsaking Akshay Kumar for Aamir Khan,” Chauhan added. Trade expert Amod Mehra, who watched Mohenjo Daro’s 9.15 am show at a Juhu multiplex with barely eight others in the audience, said, “The opening was highly disappointing as opposed to an encouraging start by Rustom.” Putting it in figures, box office analyst Komal Nahta said, “Rustom witnessed an occupancy rate of 60-65 per cent. Mohenjo Daro attracted half of that.” Trade-smith Girish Wankhede echoed the sentiment: “Footfalls for Mohenjo Daro will remain more or less constant over the weekend since the word-of-mouth isn’t good. However, in case of Rustom, it will go up to at least 70-75 per cent.” Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi said while Rustom had a significant advantage, Hrithik, being a favourite in urban centres, could hope for his film’s collections to improve as the day progressed. “For opening day figures, we might be looking at R13-14 crore for Rustom and R9 crore for Mohenjo Daro, because the merit of the content will make all the difference,” he added.

Akshay Kumar: Woman having an extra martial affair is USP of 'Rustom'

Actor Akshay Kumar feels the unique thing about his upcoming release "Rustom" is a woman having an extra martial affair. "Rustom" is an upcoming crime-mystery film based on the real life incident of Naval Officer K M Nanavati, who was tried for the murder of his wife's lover. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead roles, the film shows a new dimension in relationship. "Usually in a Hindi film a man gets into extra martial affair and his wife forgives and accepts him and then they live happily. But there was no film where a woman has an extra martial affair and asks for forgiveness and the husband decides whether to forgive or not. "I think this is the USP of the film. Nobody can deny that this doesn't happen in real life," Akshay said in an interview here. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai "Rustom" is slated to release on August 12. The film will see the 48-year-old actor playing a naval officer for the first time in his career. "I did not take to books or started lessons and learning about the rules and regulations of Indian Navy. I did not meet anyone from the Navy," he said. "There was a naval officer who was guiding us on how to salute and wear badges, how the walk should be, how the uniform should be worn," he added. The "Airlift" star said after wearing the uniform his way of walking changed completely. "There is something when you put the uniform you feel responsibility. It makes you feel you are the man and take charge. I envy people who wear uniform," he added. "Rustom" is produced by Neeraj Pandey and this will be Akshay's third collaboration with him post 'Special 26" and "Baby". "The screenplay is really good. He wouldn't even come to me without a good story. We are making another couple of films," he said.

Ileana D’ Cruz: Conveying emotions through facial expressions was quite tough in ‘Rustom’

Ileana D' Cruz's role of Cynthia Pavri in 'Rustom' is being much talked about these days. For an actress, who did a wonderful role in 'Barfi!', and acted in the comedy 'Main Tera Hero' 'Rustom' was a logical extension of her constant efforts to reinvent herself in the hurly-burly of Bollywood. "Working in 'Rustom' with a big star like Akshay is a dream come true for me. Moreover, I had never shied away from doing complex roles. Yes, I had doubts about fitting in to the role of a wife who keeps hiding the fact from her husband that she is having an affair. But I knew that not every day one gets to do such meaty roles. Once I got going with the role, there was no looking back," the actress was quoted as saying. Ileana D' Cruz's role of Cynthia Pavri in 'Rustom' is being much talked about these days.
