Tollywood star Mahesh Babu’s recent film ‘Srimanthudu’ which had a simultaneous release in Tamil as ‘Selvandhan’ last week is doing great business at the box office. However the film has irked fans of Superstar Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu. The title credits of the film carries the ‘Superstar’ title for Mahesh. This seems to have offended the innumerable fans of Rajinikanth as they claim that the ‘Thalaivar’ is the evergreen Superstar of Tamil cinema. They argue that the makers should have removed the ‘Superstar’ tag for Mahesh Babu at least in the Tamil version of the film ‘Srimanthudu’ aka ‘Selvandhan’ has been directed by Koratala Siva and it Mahesh Babu is one of the producers of the flick.
'Srimanthudu' to release as 'Selvandhan' in Tamil
The makers of superstar Mahesh Babu's forthcoming family drama "Srimanthudu" will release the Tamil dubbed version titled "Selvandhan" along with the Telugu version on August 7. "The Telugu as well as the Tamil dubbed version of 'Srimanthudu' will release simultaneously. It's going to be a big release. Mahesh has a good fan following among Tamil audiences too, hence we've decided to release the film in Tamil," read a statement. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film features Shruti Haasan as Mahesh's love interest. Said to be made on a budget of Rs. 70 crore, the film is jointly produced by Mahesh himself and Mythri Movie Makers. Post the success of "Baahubali", it seems to have become a trend for big-budget Telugu films to release in Tamil.
Mahesh Babu's 'Selvandhan' makes huge profits in Kerala
'Srimanthudu' turned out to be a blockbuster and has minted huge money in all the areas. The film has been released in Tamil Nadu and Kerala as 'Selvandhan' and has been declared a Superhit even there. Sopnam films, which released the film in Kerala, is said to have recovered 200% of their investment in just a week and it shows the range of success. Koratala Siva and Mahesh are being praised for making a film, with a social message very beautifully with all the commercial elements.
