More news →Bangistan' a poker face comedy: Riteish Deshmukh
Actor Riteish Deshmukh, who plays one of the leading roles in "Bangistan", says that the film is a poker face comedy. "'Housefull', 'Dhamaal', 'Masti' were physical comedies having slapstick and loud humour but 'Bangistan' is poker face," Riteish told. "There are a lot of films where there are extraordinary reactions to ordinary situations but in this film, there are extraordinary situations so you have to be ordinary to get the humour out," he added. The story of "Bangistan" revolves around two budding terrorists who decide to swap their religion in order to finish the other community. Directed by Karan Anshuman and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani, the film also features Pulkit Samrat. Riteish is well-known for his comic timing and working with him was definitely an exciting thing for Pulkit. "In 'Bangistan' my character is pretty interesting and I enjoyed playing the part. It is also the first time that I was getting an opportunity to act with Riteish, so I was very excited. The script was very nice and intelligently written. A serious issue has been portrayed in a funny manner in the film," he said. The movie is set to release on 31 July.
'Bangistan' doesn't have to make Rs.100 crore to be hit: Riteish
It started with the Rs.100 crore club and has now reached the Rs.300 crore club and is always on the minds of actors, producers and directors but "Bangistan" actor Riteish Deshmukh said that they're not expecting the film to even touch the lower mark. Asked about the obsession, Riteish told : "When you sign a film, you are aware what range the film can touch. If you do 'Housefull' and 'Grand Masti' and they collect Rs.100 crore, you can expect the next one to do similar business. "But when we do 'Bangistan', we're not expecting the film to touch Rs.100 crore because for this film to be successful, it doesn't need to reach that figure. Every film has a budget and a certain target audience in mind and the Rs. 100 crore mark is not necessary for every film to be successful." The film, directed by debutant Karan Anshuman, also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and is releasing on July 31.
'Bangistan' producer 'shocked' at film's ban in Pakistan
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani, whose forthcoming film "Bangistan" has been stalled in Pakistan, says he is "shocked and clueless" about the satire comedy being banned in the neighbouring country. "I am as clueless and shocked as you are because (they decided to ban the film) based on a trailer, but I have explained (to) them that you cannot judge on the basis of a trailer. A trailer will have to show a conflict (and) I cannot show you the entire film in my trailer...," Sidhwani told. Talking about the film, he says he has created a fictional country called "Bangistan", which "has its own passport, national flag and its own position on the world map. We have created a different world" where people of all castes live. "But nowhere in the film does it say it's Pakistan," he added. The "Dil Chahta Hai" producer also added that he has written to the Pakistan High Commission to send him an invitation letter so that he can show the movie to prove that it is not "anti-Pakistan". "I have written to them (that) I would come there personally with my team to show the film and then take a call after watching it," he added. It was reported that the producer along with the film's director Karan Anshuman and actors Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat have applied to visit the country. Asked about travelling to Pakistan, Sidhwani said: "I need an invitation letter before I apply for the visa. Without an invitation letter, I cannot go to Pakistan. I am hoping that they will give me the letter." The film, which was mostly shot in Poland and Ladakh, is about two suicide bombers, Hafeez Bin Ali Ishwarchand Sharma (Riteish) and Allah Rakha Khan Praveen Chaturvedi (Pulkit), who have been brainwashed into an explosive mission but eventually realise the death wish is futile exercise. "Bangistan", which was slated to hit the theatres on July 31, will now release on August 7. Riteish took to micro-blogging website Twitter on Friday to share the news. "Bangistan Now Releases On 7th August," he tweeted.

Road to Bandstand
After the news of Salman playing guru to Shoaib Akhtar, he comes another bit on the Salman-Shoaib front. It has been reported that in the wee hours of Saturday morning Shoaib Akhthar and Salman Khan entered into a bit of an argument concerning their individual fitness levels and physique. Shoaib Akhtar challenged Salman to a race to prove a point or two. Shoaib instigated Salman by taking off his shirt the Salman way. The two then set off starting from Salman's Galaxy Apartments to the other end at Taj and back. Guess who won? It was Shoaib who made it ahead of Sallu Bhai by a second or two. Looks like Shoaib knows his way out at Bandra. Let's hope he soon finds the right road to bollywood too.
