After APNE, Dharmendra's next release is JOHNNY GADDAR
Sometimes a slight delay in the release of a film only works in your favor. Producers of JOHNNY GADDAR may at least be thinking on these lines! It took sometime for this Sriram Raghavan directed to reach the finishing line but ever since the film has come in news, it has only garnered appreciation from some of the biggest and most respectable names in the industry. The film has also benefited from the fact that Dharmendra, who plays a key role in the film, has just made a smashing comeback with APNE which has resulted in a revived interest for JOHNNY GADDAR. Add to it the buzz which it's lead debutant hero Neil Mukesh has generated and JOHNNY GADDAR suddenly finds itself as one of the hottest projects in the running. Also starring Rimi Sen, Zakir Hussain and Vinay Pathak, the film is looking at a late September release.
JOHNNY GADDAAR has one of the best music videos ever
If you have heard the sound of 'Doob Jaa Mere Pyaar Mein' in the just released music album of JOHNNY GADDAAR, stay tunes for more fun on your way. The album's release has been followed by unveiling of the song's promotional music video. A highly innovative video directed by Shwethab (JIGSAW PICTURES), the track features Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy along with UK pop-star Hardkaur. With the film's title logo JOHNNEY GADDAAR prevalent in majority of frames from the song, it contributes to high retention quotient. Coupled with a funky tune, some catchy dance steps and a naughty-n-catty Hardkaur, 'Doob Jaa' is a song which is instantly catchy and gets the atmosphere rocking. The Red and Black stripes are an inherent part of the song's picturisation which further makes the video stand out from dozen odd other videos playing on the telly. Watch out for this one!!!
"I am overwhelmed with support to JOHNNY GADDAAR" - Sriram Raghavan
"During the making of the film, I was wondering if critics would maul the film. I am so happy that it was just the other way round", says Sriram Raghavan, director of JOHNNY GADDAAR, who is thrilled with the kind of support his film has got post-release. "Saying that I am overwhelmed with the media support would be understating the fact", Sriram comments, "Whether it is print, satellite or web media, people have come all out to appreciate the film. It is a very heartening feeling." There are mixed box office reports though. "Yes, the film didn't quite open on a very good note. But I can see word of mouth working in it's favour. The second week billing has been quite good too. In fact at numerous centres it is better than the first. Being a medium budget film, recovery was never an issue as money spent on it is already back."
Shortcut Romeo' one step ahead of 'Johnny Gaddaar': Neil
Neil Nitin Mukesh says his forthcoming film "Shortcut Romeo", in which he plays a negative character, is a chance for him to take the hatred and vengeance of his character in the 2007 film "Johnny Gaddaar" one step ahead. In "Johnny Gaddaar", Neil played Vikram, a member of a gang which runs a gambling club and conducts other underhand deals. In the film, his character goes to any extent to make money. Neil's performance was appreciated. "For the last few years, I was in search of such a script that could carry me one step ahead of 'Johhny Gaddaar'. Then I got a chance to meet Susi Ganeshan. He told me about this story ('Shortcut Romeo'). Then I felt that if I had to carry forward the character of 'Johnny Gaddar', 'Shortcut Romeo' is the film," Neil said here in an interview. In "Shortcut Romeo", the aim of Neil's character is to get rich anyhow. "Through this film ('Shortcut Romeo'), I can carry forward the look and style (mannerisms and character) of 'Johnny Gaddaar'," added the 31-year-old. "Shortcut Romeo" is the remake of Ganeshan's super hit Tamil film "Thiruttu Payle" and also features Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta. The film is releasing June 21.
Johnny on the right track
Neil Nithin Mukesh is still a baby in Bollywood when the way ahead to become a top star is taken into consideration. The 26 year old grandson of the legendry playback singer Mukesh believes in his work talking for him and is known as a celebrity who likes to keep a very low profile. He got a fantastic launch pad in the hit film 'Johnny Gaddar' directed by Sriram Ragavan and was appreciated for his matured acting performance. This handsome hunk has some interesting films from established directors lined up to take him to the next level. Right now Madhur Bhandarkar is in the news because of a film called 'Fashion' which is entirely based on the world of fashion and models and also because of the national award that he won recently for the film 'Traffic Signal'. As every one of Madhur's films are very different from each other and gives lots of scope for good performances, every actor hopes to be part of the hit maker's film. Neil Nithin Mukesh has got the right opportunity at the right time in being chosen by Madhur for his film to be shot after the wrap up of 'Fashion' titled as 'Jail'. The title itself suggests that it is a story related to a jail and characters of inmates are sure to be there in the film. So whether Neil will be playing an inmate or a cop and what will be the shades of his character is not known till now. But whatever it may be the young hero has got a movie that will be attracting a lot of speculations and a highly creative and sensitive filmmaker to call the shots with perfection. The other movies in which Neil have been decided to be the main protagonist are 'Tera Kya Hoga Johnny' to be directed by Sudhir Mishra, Jehangir Surthi's 'Freeze', Ken Ghosh's next film and one untitled film from film maker Kabir Khan. Neil does not think much about the competition in the Tinsel Town and working in Bollywood when so many new faces are being introduced every month. What he feels is that Bollywood is one big family and every good performing actor will get his own space to showcase the talents. What ever space the other aspiring male lead actors have got, for the time being Neil Nithin Mukesh has built up a comfortable and cozy personal space with some good films in hand to look forward.
