Vijayakanth and his 'Mariyadhai'

Actor-cum-politician Vijayakanth is on the verge of completing his movie 'Engal Aasaan'. Produced by S Ve Thangaraj, the movie which happens to be Vijayakanth's 151st film and features Sheryl Brindo opposite him. Vikranth, Akshaya and Suja are also in the cast. After completing 'Engal Aasaan', Vijayakanth will join hands with director Vikraman again. With Meera Jasmine playing the female lead, Vikraman has chosen to title the film 'Mariyadhai'. Though Vikraman has rendered several hits in the past, his last venture 'Chennai Kadhal' did not do very well at the box office. Expectations are high as the two come together again after a successful outing in 'Vanathai Polae', a few years ago. Sources say it would be a typical Vikraman movie laced with emotions. Obviously Vijayakanth fans cannot expect their 'Captain' totting guns and running behind terrorists in the film.

Meera opposite Vijayakanth in Mariyathai

Vijayakanth and Vikraman are coming together for 'Mariyathai' after many years since the blockbuster 'Vanathai Pola'. Award-winning actress Meera Jasmine co-stars Vijayakanth in this flick. Produced by Amma creations, the film will have 'Captain' donning in dual roles. Vijay Antony scores the music. The film is expected to go on floors next month. The duo of Vikraman-Vijayakanth gave a clean, family entertainer 'Vanathai Pola' which ran to packed houses in almost all the centers. Probably after 'Vaitheki Kaathirunthal', it was the movie which gave larger scopes of performance for the action-stamped actor to do emotionally packed, sentimental roles. 'Mariyathai', set in the village backdrop, would not be like any usual product from Vikraman, filled with any sentimental stuff or emotional drama. As of now, the audition for selecting one more heroine to feature opposite Captain other than Meera is in progress. The hunt is also on to seek for the talented artists and technicians to be included in the crew of 'Mariyathai'.
