Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ shooting is currently progress in Chennai. The shooting will be continue in Chennai for another 8 days and later the team will shoot some songs in other locations. Vijay, Jeeva and Ileana are taking part in the ongoing shooting. Shankar is planning to shoot couple of songs with Vijay and Ileana in foreign locations. Harris Jayaraj has scoring music for the film and it was produced by Gemini Film Circuit.
'Nanban' - The tidbits
Reliable sources close to Shankar, the captain of the 'Nanban' ship, that stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth and Ileana in the lead roles give us a few tidbits of what's happening at the film's sets. The team has been continuously shooting at parts of Europe, Andamans, Chennai and Coimbatore and it is said that 60% of the shooting has been completed, that too, all the important scenes including the climax and complicated outdoor scenes seem to have been canned. The team has also started the post-production work including editing and dubbing side by side. Resul Pookutty has joined the team of 'Nanban' for sound designing. Not just that, cast and crew of 'Nanban' are flying abroad with a long schedule in their planner and with this, all the scenes of 'Nanban' will be shot.
Nanban studio to become shopping mall
SP Balasubramanium has sold his studio Kothandapani studios to Gemini labs and they have plans to erect a swanky shopping mall there. Shooting for Nanban was happening at this location and apparently there is still some work pending like dubbing and other technical work. They have been given permission to finish the work. So the Nanban team is working faster than ever before because now they are up against a deadline. This may put pressure on the team but Vijay fans are seeing it in a positve way because they are dying to see the film and the sooner it is finished the sooner they will get to see their favorite star in the role of a lifetime. Jiiva has finished shooting for the film and he said that it was a lovely experience and he is proud to be a part of this film. He added that he going to miss his director Shankar and costars Vijay and Srikanth who are like brothers to him.
Nanban’s release date!
For all you Vijay fans, waiting to know the release date of Nanban, here it is! The film is scheduled to be released for Pongal 2012, say sources in Kollywood. There were a lot of speculations that the movie would hit the screens on Diwali and then it was said that the filmmakers are eyeing the December slot. But now we have come to know that the director of Nanban, Shankar, is planning a Pongal release. Nanban is a remake of the Hindi smash hit 3 Idiots and stars Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana, Sathyaraj, SJ Suryah and several others. The film is produced by Gemini Film Circuit.
Nanban actor in a biggie Telugu film
Srikanth is on a roll these days and his career is going places. He has two very interesting Tamil projects in his kitty and now he is to be part of a big film in Telugu. It will be a two hero project and Ravi Teja is to be one of the leads. Srikanth plays his friend and word is that it is a very good role. Richa Gangopadhyay will be Teja's heroine. The hunt is on for a leading lady who will be paired up with Srikanth. Shooting will commence in a week's time. Good going Srikanth!
Nanban and Billa 2 most expected films
A popular Tamil magazine conducted a poll to find out the most expected film of 2012. Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan, Kamal Haasan’s Viwaroopam, Vijay’s Nanban, Ajith’s Billa 2, Arya’s Vettai, Silambarasan’s Vettai Mannan and Danush’s 3 were in fray to scale the first place. Of all these films, Vijay’s Nanban reached the top spot with 1,19, 668 votes while Ajith’s Billa 2 followed it with 1,08,339 votes. Looks that these two are the hottest picks of 2012.
