More news →G.V to compose Guns of Benaras BGM
Tamil composer G.V. Prakash Kumar, who had previously worked on Anurag Kashyap's "Gangs of Wasseypur", has been roped in to compose the background score for Hindi crime-drama "Guns of Benaras". "Guns of Benaras" is a Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster "Pollathavan" which also had music by GV Prakash. "I have been told by my producer that G.V. Prakash has been roped in to compose the background music for our film 'Guns of Benaras'. Since he composed the music for the original, the makers thought it would make sense to have him on board," Ganesh Venkatraman, who plays one of the leads in the film, said. "I don't know if the paper work has been completed, but my producer confirmed that they have zeroed in on Prakash," he added. Prakash has also composed music for Kashyap's upcoming film "Ugly" and had previously worked on Shirish Kunder's sci-fi comedy "Joker". "Guns of Banaras" is being directed by Shekhar Suri. It also features Karan Nath, Vinod Khanna, Nathalia Kaur, Abhimanyu Singh and Namrata Shirodkar. Prakash, who has also composed tunes for Tamil films "Pattiyal", "Thalaivaa" and "Raja Rani", is set to make his acting debut with the upcoming Tamil film "Pencil". He has also got into production with the upcoming Tamil rural drama "Madhayaanai Kootam".
Is pooja not Bala’s heroine?
Rumours are going on for a long time in kollywood that ‘Naan Kadavul’ heroine Pooja is the heroine in ace director Bala’s upcoming picture ‘Avan Ivan’ that has Arya and Vishal in the leads. On the other hand, Pooja denies these rumours and says, “I have not been approached by Bala sir till now. There is no truth in reports that I am there in ‘Avan Ivan’.” Some of the close circles of the actress says “She would however accept the offer if Bala wants her to be the part of the project because, ‘Naan Kadavul’ has established Pooja as a talented actress, though she has acted in many films in Tamil, it was the Bala’s movie which earned her name and fame. So she is interested to work with Bala again.” If Pooja is confirmed for this Bala’s film produced by Kalpathi S Agoram, it will be fifth movie for Arya and Pooja together. Previously, they both acted together in ‘Ullam Ketkume’, ‘Pattiyal’, ‘Oram Po’ and ‘Naan Kadavul’.
Vishnuvardhan keen to deliver a hit
Director Vishnuvardhan is keen to deliver a hit now. After rendering massive hits in 'Arindhum Ariyamalum' and 'Pattiyal' with Arya, he is confident that his next film 'Sarvam' which brings them together again, would also go on to become a hit. 'Sarvam', produced by Ayngaran International, is nearing completion fast. Vishnu is optimistic that the racy entertainer would charm audiences. It has been shot in a stylish manner which has become quite typical to Vishnuvardhan after 'Billa'. 'We shot with great difficulty in hill stations like Yercaud. The movie has an interesting storyline with a gripping climax. Trisha's role in the film will be remembered by movie-buffs for long', said sources close to the unit. 'Sarvam would be totally different from Vishnu's last venture Billa', they added. With both Vishnu and Arya sharing an excellent rapport, the end product would be nothing short of a classy, certain other sources added.
Arya forays as a producer
Joining the list of actors venturing to film production is Arya. The young hero, who shot to fame with 'Pattiyal' has fast emerged a sought-after star in Tamil cinema. He is now eagerly awaiting the release of 'Naan Kadavul', a movie that is sure to fetch him laurels. Directed by Bala, 'Naan Kadavul' is almost completed for an early release. An off-beat entertainer, the movie was shot in Kasi and its adjoining areas. Now, Arya is shooting for Sarvam, directed by Vishnuvardhan. Simultaneously, he has planned to produce films. News from the actor's side says that he would churn out movies only to encourage and promote new talents. His maiden venture would have a newcomer playing the hero. Sources close to him buzzes his younger brother might be introduced through the film.
Vishnuvardhan's 'Sarvam' to be renamed
Vishnuvardhan, the talented director of movies such as 'Arindhum Ariyamalum', 'Pattiyal' and 'Billa' wrote the story of 'Sarvam' with Suriya in mind. However, Suriya could not accommodate dates for the film and so Vishnu's favorite Arya was roped in. Then a major setback happened when two members of the production unit died in an accident in the shooting spot. All these events upset the director a great deal and now the latest news is that he is not happy with the name 'Sarvam' and is going in for a name change. The new name however is being worked on and not yet revealed to the press. The movie which is expected to be action-packed would feature Arya and Trisha in lead roles. Chakravathy will be playing the villain. The movie is produced by Ayngaran International.
Pooja have high hopes on 'Naan Kadavul'
The actress from Sri Lanka Pooja who was seen in movies like 'Jay Jay', 'Ulla Ketukumae', 'Pattiyal', 'Pori', 'Thambi', 'Orampo' and 'Thaganpansamy' is eagarly awaiting the release of the much talked about film 'Naan Kadavul'. In the new movie the actress took a diversion from the normal heroine roles and grabbed the role of a visually challenged girl which was offered to her. Pooja although is a native of Sri Lanka lives in Bangalore and go to her country often to act in films produced there and recently completed two singalam movies. The actress who was introduced into the Tamil Film Industry five years ago, has slowly climbed up to attain a reputation of a good performer and hopes that her challenging role in 'Naan Kaduval' will turn out to be the turning point in her career and help her get more roles that have a good scope for performance and establish herself firmly in Kollywood. The actress has acquired a new house recently after living for a long time in a rented place. We wish Pooja, that 'Naan Kaduval' and your new house really becomes a turning point in your life.
