More news →'Robot' to kick start in the US on August 15
The much-awaited film, 'Robot', starring Rajinikanth and directed by Shankar, will kick off in USA. According to reports, the movie touted to be the costliest film to be made in Tamil Cinema and will begin with a song sequence featuring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai. 'Kuselan' fever is very ripe in the US and is releasing amidst a lot of hype with cut-outs and posters of Rajinikanth all over. 'Robot' will be made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. Plans are on to commence shooting from 15th August. 'Kuselan' is ready to hit the screens on the 1st of August, while Rajinikanth's animation movie 'Sultan - The Warrior', directed by his daughter Soundarya will hit the screens in April 2009. Fans of Rajinikanth are in a joyous mood for they would see their favorite actor on screen over and over.
Two heroines for Robot?
Within 24 hours of official announcement of Shankar & Rajini's Robot, the rumour mills have started working actively. The latest buzz in Kollywood is that 'Robot', the grand and possibly the biggest film in Indian history, would have two heroines. Nayantara and Deepika Padukone are said to be the twin heroines of the movie. While Nayantara, who played superstar's pair in 'Chandramukhi', is tipped to become his pair again, it is rumored that the latest Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone would don an important role. Both girls are hot and happening. Nayantara has made everyone sit up and watch her by her stunning looks in Tamil movie 'Billa', while Deepika has grabbed the attention of entire nation by her magical charm in 'Om Santhi Om'. Going by the huge expectations of the mega budget film, the two popular heroines would definitely add colour to the science fiction story of Shankar. Ash in Robot
It is almost certain that India's most sought after actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has signed the mega movie 'Robot' directed by Shankar. Aishwarya Rai will play the lead role as the pair to India's biggest superstar Rajinikanth. Sources from Mumbai say that the deal was struck by yesterday (January 23) noon. It is said that Aishwarya would be paid a whopping amount of Rs 1.5 crore for the film. The amount, it confirmed, will be the highest salary received by an actress in India. As we have mentioned earlier, Rajinikanth has been trying to cast the beauty queen in his film right from the days of 'Padayappa'. Ash out of Robot?
The dream project of director Shankar featuring Rajinikanth has met with a stumbling block as its heroine Aishwarya Rai said to be keen in having a baby before she turns 35 (on November 1, 2008). It is strongly rumoured that the Bachchan bahu, who was offered a whooping amount of Rs. 6 crore to act in 'Robot', has conveyed the 'Robot' team about her 'inability' to act in the film. The news, if confirmed would be a major setback for the team, which was gearing up for the shooting to be commenced by June this year. Shankar and team are now in a fix as they face the tough task of finding a replacement to the most sought after girl in Indian film industry. It is not the first time the pairing of Rajini and Ash is jinxed. She has been in the reckoning for Rajini's movie since the time of 'Padayappa'. It may be recalled that Simran too withdrew from 'Chandramukhi' stating the same reason, i.e., to have a child. The news has not been confirmed, but if it is then 'Robot' unit will need to hunt for a new actress, who could fit the role.
Aishwarya confirms acting in Robot
There was news making the rounds yesterday that we might not get to see the Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai acting opposite our superstar in the sci-fi flick 'Robot'. The reason that was sighted that she wanted to have babies before she hits 35. But Aishwarya herself has quashed all rumors and confirmed that she will be acting as Rajini's heroine in Shankar-directed 'Robot'. She has confirmed this in her latest interview to a private news channel. Talks are going on that Aish will star in on more Manirathnam film soon. This film will be a bilingual in Hindi and tamil. The best part is that Aish will get to act opposite her Husband Abhishek Bachchan in this film too. The earlier film we saw the coming together of this real-life pair was in Manirathnam film 'Guru'. This whooping 125-crore big-budget film will soon start rolling, and we have reports that Aish has already received a whooping sum as advance for her role in this film. Aish has said that she has liked the script of 'Robot' in which she gets to essay a very different and novel role. Now folks this confirmation from the lady herself has quashed all rumors suggesting that the Rajini-Aishwarya pair is jinxed!
125-Crore project Robot starts rolling
Shankar's next science fiction project 'Robot' started rolling amidst much fanfare yesterday. The film's team started shooting the scenes in an air-conditioned room in AVM studio, Chennai. Director Shankar captured the superstar for the first scene of the film. Many fans of the superstar were very eager to know the start of shooting of 'Robot' and within minutes of the news reaching them many fans of Rajinikanth thronged at AVM Studio to get a glimpse of the superstar. But since the rules of AVM studio restricts the entry for the public the fans had to leave the scene disappointed. This big-budget film sees superstar Rajinikanth and the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan coming together for the first time ever. The film is directed by one of the most flamboyant directors of the country, Shankar, and the music of A.R. Rahman will grace the film. Let us also inform you that Rajinikanth will soon be shooting for P. Vasu directed 'Kuselan' the tamil version of Malayalam super hit 'Katha Parayumbhol'.
