Last week we had reported about young music director Prakash Nikki of 'Rowthiram' and 'Kalam' fame, turning as a producer of a Tamil film that will be directed by debutant Vijay Sri G. Now we have learnt that the film will have a don character and a highly interesting and the most unexpected choice of an actor has been zeroed in for the don character. Veteran actor Charu Haasan, the elder brother of Kamal Haasan will be making a comeback in Kollywood playing the role of a don in this yet to be titled film. The eldest of Haasan brothers who is 86 now, will be seen as a local don in this film. The character is a Chennai based don and hence he will be seen in a localised role shedding off his sophisticated on-screen and off-screen image. The octogenarian actor's character will be an important one in the film, which brings about a change in the flow of the story. He will be shooting for five to six days for the film. The shooting has already begun. The film will have a maximum of 12 characters including the lead characters who will be newcomers. Now actor in the film will sport makeup as the film's tagline is 'No Makeup No Drugs'. Mani Ratnam's Next: Karthi Begins To Fly For His Pilot Avatar!

Actor Karthi, who plays a pilot in film-maker Mani Ratnam's yet-untitled Tamil romantic drama, is currently undergoing a crash course in flying. "Karthi is learning the basics of flying, which includes even simple things like how to be seated while in the pilot's seat. It will be a 2-3 weeks crash course and upon completion, the makers will finally take the film on the floors," a source from the film's unit told IANS. Karthi plays an NRI in the film. He falls in love with a doctor, which will be played by Aditi Rao Hydari, while on a trip to India. Although the project was originally supposed to star Sai Pallavi as its female lead; she was recently replaced by Aditi, who will be making her Tamil comeback. The actress, predominantly seen in Hindi cinema, made her Tamil debut way back in 2007, when she played an important role in Sringaram. The regular shooting of the project is supposed to start from June, and the team is targeting a year end release. Produced by Ratnam's Madras Talkies, the film will have its music composed by 'Isaipuyal' AR Rahman and cinematography will be spearheaded by Ravi Varman. Meanwhile, Karthi is also busy wrapping up work on his upcoming horror film, Kaashmora. Being directed by Gokul of Rowthiram and Idharkuthaney Aasaipattai Balakumara fame, the film also stars Nayantara, Dri Divya, Manisha Yadav and Vivekh in important roles. Interestingly, Vivekh will be seen playing Karthi's father in the movie, which will have its music composed by Santhosh Narayanan. For the 3D scan technology used in the film, Karthi's face was scanned at a studio here in Chennai. It is said that Kaashmora is the first Tamil film to have implemented the technology in India. For movies like Maattrraan and Kochadaiiyaan, the same technology was executed at studios in the United States.
