Salim Khan’s scathing response to haters
The controversy surrounding Salman Khan's selection as the Goodwill ambassador from the Indian contingent for the Rio Olympics 2016 refuses to die down. Salman's father, Salim Khan, had earlier taken his son's side and lashed out against veteran sportsman, Milkha Singh, who had objected to Salman's selection. One of his many tweets read, "The same industry which resurrected you from fading away in oblivion." His tweets waged a war and soon a debate ensued over what he had written and an apology was being demanded. After drawing flak for his tweets, Salim again took to Twitter to lash out against his haters. In a series of tweets, Salim Khan has defended his stand. He wrote, "WINDING UP. Salman has been in controversy for the last 25 years regularly. Not a single time i supported him. I was known as a fair person. Now first time i support him on my belief that what he is doing is right. Instead and alcohol or tobacco he is promoting sports." Lastly, he mocked all those who have been demanding an apology saying, "And i am called unfair, arrogant and asked to apologise. "Oh lord forgive them for they know not what they do" - Jesus." Well, seems like an apology is the last thing on Salim Khan's mind for now.
'Papa' Salim has 'rescued' Salman Khan six times
Superstar Salman Khan is controversy's favourite child in Bollywood and as such landed himself in soup repeatedly. The latest instance of the 50-year-old star courting controversy happened over the weekend when he compared himself to a 'raped woman'. As soon as the outrage over the comment started escalating, 'Daddy dearest' Salim Khan stood up and speaking on behalf of his son asked for forgiveness. This isn't the first time that 'Papa' Salim has taken it in his hands to rectify a mistake committed by his son or defend his boy. Here are six instances when Salim Khan took up arms for Salman Khan Salim apologises for son's 'raped woman' comment Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan said that his son meant no wrong when he said he felt like a 'raped woman' during the shooting of 'Sultan' but apologised on his behalf after the latter was condemned on social media. "Undoubtedly what Salman said is wrong, the simile, example and the context. The intention was not wrong," Salim Khan tweeted on Tuesday. "Nevertheless I apologise on behalf of his family, his fans and his friends. Forgiveness is to pardon the unpardonable or it is no virtue at all," added the 80-year-old veteran. The screenwriter also said that on International Yoga Day, "let's not run our shops on this mistake". Salman heeds daddy's words over Yakub Memon comments The Bollywood superstar Salman Khan apologised for tweeting earlier that the 1993 Mumbai blasts accused Yakub Memon should not hang but his brother Tiger Memon should. While saying that he stood by what he had said, Salman said his father wanted him to retract his tweets "as they have the potential to create misunderstanding". The veteran scriptwriter had earlier lashed out at his son for tweeting in what was construed as support of 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon. Salim said that whatever Salman wrote was ridiculous and meaningless, adding that his son was ignorant of the issue and, therefore, people should not take him seriously.
When Salim Khan's apology for Salman Khan's 'rape' remark backfired
Salim Khan had hoped that apologising on behalf of son Salman Khan for his “raped woman” comment would put an end to the problems that would have arisen. The veteran writer tweeted yesterday, “Normally people apologise to get rid of the problem but I meant it hoping that the problem would be over.” He further wrote: “What is the meaning of getting an apology from a person under the guillotine, who knows rightly or wrongly that he has not committed a crime.” He adds,“But the commercial compulsion of the media wanted to carry it to the saturation point. I regret not knowing this,” he tweeted.
The Magic of Salim-Javed Once Again
Story, Screenplay and Dialogues by Salim-Javed. This was a prominent credit on the silver screen in the Hindi Film world that changed the fate of movie making. It was great to see a credit in Farhan Akhtar's 'Don''Adapted from the original screenplay by Salim-Javed. It's time to talk about this deadly-duo who re-wrote the art of storytelling in Hindi films. At many an occasion they were more powerful than the director. And they charged more money than the big stars of their films. If a film poster carried the name Salim-Javed, it was assumed that the film is going to be a silver jubilee at least. In fact the practice of putting the name of the story writers on the posters was started by them. In an era of limited television appeal, a film's poster was the biggest advertisement for a film in those days. Although they had a gap of ten years between them (Salim Khan is ten years elder to Javed Akhtar) their team is what the folklores are made of. They started off with an obscure film 'Sarhadi Lootera' where Salim Khan acted while Javed wrote the dialogues. Once the team was formed, roles were well defined as well. While Salim Khan was good with carving plots of a story, Javed was excellent with dialogues. Their filmography during the 1970s reads the biggest hits of Hindi cinema like 'Haathi Mera Saathi', 'Seeta Aur Geeta', 'Zanjeer', 'Sholay', 'Deewar', 'Trishul' and 'Don' to name a few. They parted ways in the early 1980s due to ego hassles and their individual attempts didn't bear the same fruits. While Salim Khan achieved a degree of success with Sanjay Dutt's 'Naam', Javed Akhtar struck gold with 'Betaab'. But apart from that they couldn't do much of recognition. Today, Javed Akhtar is a prominent lyricist and his son Farhan Akhtar is one of the most promising directors we have today. Salim Khan's son Salman Khan is one of the biggest superstars of Indian cinema. MusicMazaa salutes the work done by Salim-Javed. Do let us know the state of Hindi cinema if these two greats decide to join hands once again today.
