Silambarasan's Silambattam is formally launched today (Dec 7) at AVM studios. The movie will see a new Silambarasan donning the role of a temple priest. It is surprising to note that, Simbu, with the image of playboy, playing such a sober character. But Silambarasan has a reason. "When you are so young, you can attract many, especially youngsters, by playing negative characters. But, as you grow and get recognized by all, you have to be careful in choosing your roles. So I have chosen to act in the roles that would attract everyone", said Silambarasan in the press meet that followed the launch function. But don't jump to the conclusion that Silambattam would be a sober film. It has its share of thrilling actions and enticing romance, clarifies Silambarasan. The movie has two heroines. One is Sanna Khan, a model from Mumbai. Other heroine is yet to be finalized. Saravanan, who has been handling the camera for many acclaimed directors like Vikraman and Suresh Krishana, is donning a different role in the film. He wields the megaphone for the film. Simbu is all praise for the director. "When stunt master Kanal Kannan asked me to hear the story that Saravanan had in his mind, I was quite skeptical. But after hearing the story I was very much impressed. The way he narrated the story was stylish", says Silambarasan. The hero, who is also a director, has assured that he would not interfere in the director's job. Surprisingly, Saravanan is not doing the cinematography for his movie. His friend and long time colleague Mathi is handling the camera. "I want to fully concentrate in the movie", says Saravanan. The backdrop of Silambaattam will be both village and city. The movie will have John Vijay ('Oram Po' fame) playing the villain.
Silambattam - Burning the midnight oil!
Silambarasan who welcomed his 25th birthday recently is working hard for his next venture titled 'Silambattam'. The shooting for this film has been taking place in various locations. Some scenes for 'Silambattam' was shot in a small village called Thirukadaiyur near Kumbakonam district. Since the shooting in Thirukadaiyur is over, the 'Silambattam' troop has now moved to Thiruvaiaru which is near Thirukadaiyur for shooting the next part. A grand set has been erected to depict a 'thiruvizha' (meaning 'fair' in Tamil) scene and shooting is going on day and night. Saravanan who is an ace cameraman takes the director's chair for this flick. This film has Silambarasan and Sana Khan in the lead roles. The film seems to have village and city sequences in equal proportion. And guessing by the hard work and the effort that is being put in, it sure seems like a success story!
Silambattam's Music to be out
Silambarasan, was last seen in 'Kaalai' and is now backing to the race with his 'Silambattam'. The audio launch of this movie is set to be held today. Starring Mumbai model Saana Khan opposite Simbhu, the movie is directed by cinematographer-turned-director Saravanan. Lakshmi Movie makers, produces this movie which is slated to be released shortly. Musical score has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The duo Simbhu-Yuvan, has earlier made the chartbusters Manmathan, Vallavan and is anticipated to restate the hit again with 'Silambattam'. Remixing songs is the hottest trend of recent times and the yesteryear Shivaji Ganesan hit 'Nalamdhana' has been done for this flick. But, they claim that it is not a complete remake of the song but only a few prominent lines has been penned down for this new version. Another pop style song, 'Where is da' Party also forms a part of the number. 'Vachukava unna' is yet another remixed number for Silambattam. A bolstering element for the musical score is, Illayaraja has crooned for the first time for Silambarasan.
After 'Silambattam' it's 'Poda Podee'
Even if his film becomes a hit or is a washout at the box office, Silambarasan have enough projects in his hand at any given point of time. 'Kaalai' is dead history for Simbu. Although a movie titled 'Kettavan' was also announced sometime back, it seems the project has been stopped for the time being. Now the upcoming actor is busy with his current project titled 'Silambattam'. After 'Silambattam', the young lead actor will be seen in a film titled 'Poda Podee' going to be directed by Vikki. Vikki learned the ways of directing from Prabhu Solomon and is also a friend of Simbu. The other cast members and the heroine of 'Poda Podee' have not yet being fixed. Simbu must be quite keen to return back to the great times that he enjoyed after the grand success of 'Manmadhan'.
