It looks like an employment exchange with lot of young aspirants flocking in to Linguswamy's office. The reason behind the unprecedented gathering is the news, that director Balaji Sakthivel is searching for damn new faces for his next movie, produced by Linguswamy, has spread like fire in Kollywood. When Balaji's 'Kaadhal' came out and became a huge success, most of the leading stars had contacted him to express their willingness to act in his film. Balaji however, refused to cast any of the established stars in his next film 'Kalloori', which had a horde of new faces. 'Kalloori', which had little impact in the scenario, left Balaji in a dilemma. But Linguswamy came forward to give Balaji a chance to direct a film under his banner. Balaji has right earnestly started the project and has announced that he would cast newcomers in this film too. This has made hundreds young aspirants storming the producer's office in search of a chance in Balaji's next film. Balaji is prepared to experiment once again and Linguswamy is ready to back him. Let us hope and wish that the confidence of the duo will be vindicated by the time.
A youthful affair
Navadeep's abilities blossomed under the direction of Vishnu Vardhan in Arindhum Ariyamalum. Making the most of the opportunity, Navadeep did leave his mark even with the presence of Arya. That good show has opened more avenues for the youngster, with a spate of offers from the Telugu industry. In Nenjil Jil Jil, Navadeep is paired with the petite Aparna. The girl with a warm smile has made gentle strides since the days of Pudukottayilirundu Saravanan. Her plucky show in ABCD won her many friends, unfazed by the competition of a crowd of stars. She has done well to put that disappointment behind and get on with the job. Aparna says, 'In a youthful project, there is a lot of freshness in the script. Getting to play characters in tune with my age is a nice feeling.'
Chennai Rockers: Targeting the youth with Video Album
It may not be a new idea but it is definitely a novel attempt made in the arena of video albums. 'Chennai Rockers', a newly formed company comprising a strong team of well experienced professionals, is ready to rock the market with its innovative and youthful video albums. The first ever product to come out of the team's kitty will be a sensational video album in three different languages. 'Vasagan', Hurts My Love, and Pyaari are the titles for Tamil, English and Hindi albums respectively. You get to see some refreshing and attractive visuals in the promos. The album is expected to entice the youth, its prime target. 'Chennai Rockers' in fact has made it clear that IT segment and the collage students of the city are its main target groups. The troupe is also planning to shoot a HIP HOP song soon at Goa featuring Chennai's top models. The launch of the trilingual album is scheduled tentatively for 14th of April at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
Chiyaan Vikram is youth envoy for United Nations
Chiyaan Vikram is back with a bang after seeing some low time in his career. He is one of finest actors in Kollywood with unique acting skills. He proved his mettle in many films and also made experimental attempts in his career. Vikram was recently conferred with a Doctorate by The University of Milan, Italy. And the latest we hear is that the versatile actor has been selected by the UN Habitat (United Nations Human Settlement Programme) as the Youth Envoy for the Asian Contingent.Only four envoys are selected from around the world and our very own Chiyaan is one among them. Vikram is now going to attend the 23rd Governing Council meet in Nairobi, Kenya which begins from 11th to 15th April 2011. Vikram speaking from Nairobi said that”UN Habitat works for the eradication of poverty for providing sustainable Urban Development and improving livelihoods of the poor people. I am really blessed and honored to be a part of this organization”. The actor who takes part in social activities wants to give something back to people and Vikram joined with UN Habitat to achieve and carry forward the goals.
One more for the youths
Director Kasthoori Raja's Idhu Kadhal Varum Paruvam is nearing completion. The movie features a debutant Harish Kumar and new-look Kiran playing the heroine. 'The movie is about an adolescent youth who comes across romance in his life', he says and adds, 'The movie will set a new trend in the industry and draw youth audience to theatres'. On casting for the movie, Kasthoori Raja says, 'Kiran has sex appeal. She has slimmed down and looks tailor-made for the role. She plays a model in the movie and is sure to leave an impression not just with glamour but also with her performance'. Kasthoori Raja has scored music for the film.
Unnale Unnale cuts a swathe with youth
Cinematographer ' director Jeeva's Unnale Unnale has caught the admiration of the youths. The movie which opened big on Tamil New Year's Day has managed to sustain the bumper opening and is all poised to complete the 25 day run soon. Produced by Oscar Ravichandran, the movie features newcomers Vinay and Tanisha with Sada in the lead roles. Music by Harris Jayaraj has helped the movie immensely while Jeeva's camera has won enough appreciation. The crisp dialogues and cool urbane theme has won repeat audience for the movie. Released in multiplexes in Chennai, Unnale Unnale, thanks to good publicity by its producer Oscar Ravichandran, is poised to continue its good run entering the fourth week.
