Biggest Satellite Deal Ever Just Cracked!

Filmmakers cry foul that rates for acquiring satellite rights of films have gone down by nearly 40 per cent in the past 2 years. Despite this, some channels continue to bid exorbitantly on films in which they have high confidence.Aamir Khan, who makes only one film in every 1-2 years, has the habit of breaking almost all the existing records every time his new film releases. His upcoming film Dangal, a wrestling drama, is expected to repeat his track record of scoring industry hits at box office. In the demonetization era, industry hit looks a little doubtful but Dangal nonetheless broke the All Time record in satellite arena. As per reports, the satellite rights of Dangal have been acquired by Zee for record Rs 75 Cr. Aamir's 'Dhoom' was the earlier title holder with Rs 65 Cr deal. Rs 75 Cr is said to be astronomical in today's times but Zee management cracked this audacious deal as they have immense faith in Aamir Khan's films.Of the Rs 75 Cr, minimum guarantee is Rs 55 Cr and the rest Rs 20 Cr will be paid by the channel after the film crosses a magical mark at box office, say Rs 100 Cr. Going by Aamir's track record and the promos of Dangal, does it look the film will have difficulty at winning box office?
