Chiru's father passes away

Megastar Chiranjeevi's father succumbed to a heart ailment in the early hours of today. He has been suffering for a few days now. Konedela Venkata Rao was 70 and is survived by his three sons, actors Chiranjeevi, Naga Babu and Pawan Kalyan and two daughters Vijayadurga and Madhavi.

After having retired as an excise inspector, Venkata Rao and his wife Anjani Devi have been living with the megastar.

Though Venkata Rao was initially against his son getting into the film industry, he acted in small roles in films like Mantrigari Viyyankudu, Jagatkiladeelu along with his son.

The last rites will be performed at 5pm today. His eyes have been donated to the Chiranjeevi Eye Bank posthumously.

Various film personalities have been visiting the house of the megastar to express their regards and sympathies. Fans from Chiranjeevi's home town Mogaltur and all over the state having been coming in large numbers to pay their respects.

C Aswini Dutt, Brahmanandam, Shyam Prasad Reddy, K Raghavendra Rao, Balakrishna, Srikant, SS Rajamouli were among those who came in earlier in the day, as soon as the news was out.

Allu Arjun wearing white, was seen supervising the arrangements outside the house.
